Hey,

Lets say money is not a huge issue...

If you want a great 2.5" knife with great steal, handle materials etc, which one is the way you go? I am having a hard time sorting through all the 2.5" knives out there. I think I really like the CRK but they are right under 3" and I am looking for 2.5" knives or under.

The Benchmade Megumi is probably the best one I found so far. My only complaint is I wish it was an axis lock (but I am not even sure how good it will be at that size?)

I carry a Spyderco Dragonfly probably more than any other knife. Atlantic Salt too..

In that size also really like the Strider PT. Wish I still had one.

  • DPx HEAT/F
  • Spyderco Vrango
  • Boker Pipsqueak
  • Spyderco Dice
  • Spyderco Techno

Techno blade length is 2.56".
I doubt the 6 hundredths will make much of a difference, but it is there regardless.

I would suggest a Spyderco Burch Chubby.
You can get a better grip on the Chubby but Techno has the jimping.

Chubby has a blade thickness of 0.172" vs. 0.173" on the Techno but as you can see Chubby tapers way down.

Chubby weighs 4.04 ounces vs. 3.52 ounces on Techno.

Blade length is 2.33" for Chubby vs. 2.56" for Techno.

Width closed is 1.612" for Chubby vs. 1.391" for Techno.

Handle thickness is 0.451" for Chubby vs. 0.454" for Techno.

Measured my Techno blade and it's definitely 1/32 over the 2.5 mark.
I just realized that I never measure my blades. Damn, now I'm going to obsess about that.

Right around 2.5 is the EnZo Birk 75. Measured it just now with a tape measure, so don't hold me too close to the 2.5 threshold. It's damn close. Don't bother with the Scandi Grind version, go with the CPM S30V FFG blade. You won't come across a more robust and solid knife for the money. The EnZo has carbon fiber scales, deep carry clip, great FFG grind, and great blade steel and shape. You'd be hard pressed to find a blade of this quality for the same amount of money. The Birk locks up like a vault and feels fantastic in the hand. Trust me, you won't regret picking one up as a short EDC blade. I usually prefer longer blades for EDC, and the EnZo has become one of my favorites "go-to" knives for EDC.

I'm a huge fan of the Spyderco Dice. The only drawback is its a bit overpriced but you said not to worry about that.

The CF ply is grippy but still looks good. Its dressy enough to work in any situation. The grind is perfect for chewing through various materials with ease. Its easy to sharpen, easy to clean. Tip up, tip down, leftie, rightie it works in all situations.

Hope that helps.

After going through 2 Techno's and now owning a Chubby I would recommend the Chubby. They have been discontinued and can be had for $135.

That's what I was going to suggest Matt. Not sure of exact blade length, but it's around 2.5".

Extremely thin behind the edge and it is a major duty slicer!! Excellent gentleman's folder!!

Or this one......and I think I'd rather have this one if I had to choose 1.
Amazing action with an incredible blade shape!! Solid as a rock too! I like it a lot more than the Techno.
