Best AA LED Light

Be sure to checkout the CandlePower forums. That site is a good one for flashlight related queries.

And, yes the Fenix is among the very best when price is factored in. The CR123A and AA models are very good and have a "mid-range" pricepoint.

Be wary in general of the cheaper Chinese flashlights. Some of them are pretty good and pretty cheap but, they do cut corners in terms of fit and finish even if the light quality is good.

I actually have an Infinity Ultra, from back when they were still made by CMG instead of Gerber, on my keyring right now. I had not seen flashlightreviews.com before and it would seem that this site will answer most of my questions.

Thanks to all for the input,

Second for the Fenix line.

I like the single cell AA battery version for ease of carry, but the two cell is brighter.

+1 on the Fenix Crees- I have the 2 AA and the single AAA and they both make me smile every time I use them. It was lots of fun watching my friends faces when I showed them what the little AAA light would do!

I personally like the mollelight from Pentagon. It may not be the greatest, but it works well for me.

i recently got a fenix l1t, great little light and very bright.

it has replaced my surefire e1l for edc.

I got the Fenix l2d with the Rebel 100 led, and a l1d body to go with it. Great lights. I can't remember when I last had to charge my batteries (of course, I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, either.)

All these flashlight threads, people keep saying Fenix, Fenix, Fenix. I've been liking the Inova T series lately. Am I daft for that or what?

Inova makes a good light, you are not daft, but I don't think any of the T series lights are AA. They are only 123a battery lights.
What about the new Nitecore Defender Infinity?? 190 Lumens with a Li-ion AA battery.

Blades

thanks for the link blades, looks like a nice light!

complete control on the brightness gradient

I got a Fenix L2D Q5 torch the other month , and with 180 lumens to play with , it is wonderful.
As I live in the countryside , where night skies are BLACK , and stars really shine , this torch is one powerful device. I also really enjoy the low power settings , as I dont need the max power all the time.

Go for a Fenix.........

Well I haven't jumped the gun on a high quality flashlight yet, but I did pick up one of these 1 watt dorcy aaa (3) flashlights at wally world for $10. I love the thing, way way better than my LED upgraded mini maglite and probably one of my more cost effective purchases. 45 lumens, 15 hour battery life, water proof and shock proof. I think I will get this one next, 6 watts, 120 lumens and probably under $25.

Agreed. Check them out...I picked up a Olight T20 after reading a few reviews. Max lumens over 200! I'm very happy with it. It uses two 123A batteries, and I got the Tenergy rechargeable ones.

Also browse thru www.batteryjunction.com. They've got some good prices.

I have the Nightcore Defender Infinity; it has pretty much replaced my Inova XO3 as my medium thrower and Fenix L1-P as my EDC-- I get all in one with this thing! The user interface is nice, I don't have to cycle through strobe mode unless I want to, and it runs great off of NiMH AA's! It also has better grip than the Fenix line, and the HA III is actually HA III... trust me, the Fenix models are nice, but the Nightcore DI with that Q5 Cree LED is amazing! There are reviews all over CPF about it!

Not the "best", but great features, finish, and bright enough for short to mid-range purposes 20 yards, in a very pocket friendly form factor (1AA).

JetBeam cLE-v2.

Find reviews on candlepowerforums. Price is not much more then a Mag 3AA, which the JetBeam easily beats on many fronts.
