It seems after having both knives in my life and breaking a peice of the tip off my pm2 I seem to be reaching more for the 940 but one of my axis springs broke.......so I wonder which is best all around out of theze 2??

I'm a huge fan of both designs and think everybody should own at least one of each. That said, I'm not worried about an omega spring breaking benchmade fixes them very quick and the chances if it happening again are very slim.

True, but in an emergency a broken lock means your knife is now a sharp floppy hinge. A broken tip means you still have a locking cutting tool.
It would take both Omega springs breaking for the lock to fail on the 940 which is almost unheard of. They usually only go one at a time. If it did happen people have been known to put a wedge in temporarily until they are able to send in

If both Omega springs break, all you need to do is jam a piece of twig behind the AXIS bar.
Boom! Absolutely, positively cannot close, and stays open even more securely than with the stoutest of Omega springs. :)

If you broke the tip off your PM2 and it wasn't a particularly brittle sprint run, then a thicker tip would be better for you. These two knives aren't really that similar; the PM2 is primarily a slicey knife that also is decently strong and pocketable, whereas the 940 is primarily a low profile and easy to carry knife that can also be pressed into real work. If you're looking for the most foolproof knife out there, there are better options. If you want something with the design ethos of the 940, you could look at the We Knife Reiver, Twosun TS88, and Cold Steel Frenzy.

PM2 for many reasons - but the tip does come down to quite the fine point! I broke mine off some years ago, spent some time sharpening it back… good as new after some elbow grease. How much did you break off?
Just a tad off the top carving a branch but enough to bum me out got me thinking what my next knife would be...something light with a strong tip easy to carry...I was messing around with the axis lock it was stiff I was opening closeing until I broke one omega in the 940

I like the lock design and how slicey the PM2 is, but I tend not to carry it as my primary knife due to concerns on the strength of tip. The 940 got a fair bit of pocket time earlier in my knife collecting, and I think it is still a great EDC. I have carried and used a lot of Axis lock knives without any spring breakage, but I understand the concern.

Honestly, if you are ok with a bit more deliberate closing effort, the Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2 is a heck of a knife in the same price range. The hollow grind makes it very slicey, but the M4 steel and overall design carries a lot more strength to the tip than PM2. It isn't stainless, and some folks don't like the liner lock, but it is definitely a knife I trust as a solo EDC.
