Hi,

What Benchmade folder is generally considered the best "jack of all trade" EDC for office carry that is UNDER $200? I want a steel that holds up the best and can go long before sharpening.

Thanks
Michael

Mini Bugout or Mini Griptilian are natural choices. Mini Osborne would be good too, but they're a little over $200.

The CF S90V Proper is definitely a classy looking office friendly knife.

The CF S90V Mini Bugout is another great gentlemen's/office type carry but it definitely breaks the $200 mark.

Can't go wrong with a Bugout. They carry well and are a size & shape that is less likely to scare other office folk should you actually need to use your knife in front of people at work.. The full-size Bugout is plenty small, imo, but obviously the Mini would be even smaller if size is true concern for you in an office environment. The 945 (Mini Osborne) may be another good option.. slightly over $200 now, but if you're patient and keep on the lookout, you may be able to get one on sale within your budget. Any of the steels BM offers should be perfectly suitable to holding an edge over a decent amount of time for basic office edc tasks. S90V, 20CV, M4, etc are great steels, but will likely push these models outside your budget range.. S30V is good enough, imo..

If you are willing to go with discontinued models, the Sequel or the Valet.

Otherwise, bugout, mini bugout, Freek or mini Freek.

CF mini bugout is awfully close to the $200 price. Small enough to not raise an alarm, but still pretty classy looking.

The Benchmade 417-2 Mini Fact. Or "Small" Fact.

Wait, what do you mean it doesn't exist???? Make it happen!!

Where are you guys getting the s90v Bugouts for less than $200? Best price I've seen recently is the $205 for the 533-3. Would def pick one up if I could find it for less.

I can't speak on that model exactly... But I found a couple high tier Benchmade dealers in my area, and their in person prices, often beat everyone's online prices. Ymmv

My local gun store, which is a small, regional chain (but 100% employee-owned 👍) and Benchmade AD, used to sell their Benchmades at MSRP but applied a 15% discount at the register. This brought their prices below those of online dealers as MAP tends to be 10% less than MSRP.

Something recently changed and when I went in there yesterday I noticed they adjusted all their pricing to be in line with MAP. Now with taxes added, it's cheaper to shop online.

But I still prefer to do business in person, inspect the knife before I buy it, and patronize and support a local business.
