To those of you who carry a neck knife or simply have one that you actually use even if you dont carry on the neck whats your favorite blow $40 neck knife?

Right now I'm thinking either CRKT minimalist or Cold steel push dagger but it seems like the push daggar may not be a very good backup blade unless used specifically for self defense?

The minimalists are a good buy.

Sorry, can't help you.
Im a neck knife guy but I made mine out of an old hobby file, in my opinion a good neck knife should be really small so you can comfortably always wear it .
Before that my favorite neck knife was a small 10$ Chinese neck knife.

The only one I have under 40$ is a Tops Alrt. It is the black knife on top. Essentially a kiridashi.

The knife on the bottom is the Brous Silent Soldier. It is a great knife but way over 40$. However Sog makes a version of it called the Snarl which I recommend for under 40.

I am a fan of the BK14. It is reasonably priced and made by a respectable company in the USA. The Izula is similar and also a nice knife but I prefer the just slightly larger BK14.

smaller the better, its knife jewelry....personally I rather use my keys to cut open a package. I don't find it practical to lift up my shirt, or coat to grab a mini blade and then do the same with 2 hands to put the knife away (especially winter time).

I’ve had a CRKT minimalist wharnie for a long time. I still like it. Hard to beat for the money, and there’s a blade shape available for all tastes.

It’s more than $40, but Battle Horse Knives - White Tiger is a top notch neck blade. Their knives will last a lifetime...

Spyderco Micarta Street Beat ! Much better but bigger , disco'd and over budget . They have a composite handle version cheaper but probably still too much $$$ .

Cold Steel Mini Tac works well. I had the Tanto version, and it was a tough little guy.

Also from Cold Steel is the K-4 neck knife. Kinda like a little chef's knife. Got them from One Stop Knife Shop. Sharp!

I've used the Ka Bar Dozier Skeleton. Not a real workhorse, but it's only like $10. Used it for mushrooming.

From A.G. Russell you can get a Woodswalker with a neck sheath, or a Hunter Scalpel which is a real easy carry. I've never used one, but A.G. also offers a Skorpion neck knife that looks pretty cool.

The Minimalists from CRKT are affordable, but I myself would probably opt for their Ikoma Civet.

Next up for me in a neck carry piece is going to be the White River Knucklehead. A shade over your price, however.

Condor has a few options, I have an old crkt hawk somethimg I like.

The BK 11 or BK 14 gets my vote as they are neck knives that punch significantly above their weight. They are carbon steel and require appropriate care but if you are going to actually use your neck knife (many do not) then the BK 11 or 14 will not let you down.
