So I love the classic Zippos (I have seen the BLU models) but I'd like to have the butane torch flame. I have read mixed things about the Z-Plus, Z-Plus 2.0, and the Vector Thunderbird torch inserts and I was wondering who has had experience with them. I love the torch lighters but I am also interested in the regular Vector Thunderbird insert. I just don't care for the fact that the fluid evaporates out of the Zippos so quickly

I don't own any of the torch inserts, but I do own the Vector Thunderbird regular butane insert and absolutely love it. Flawless operation, perfect fit, easy to refill, long lasting and no leaks.

Here is the only photo I have of mine...

I've been using a Vector Tbird for a couple of years & love it.
The fuel valve lever on another one I had jammed up & wouldn't pivot anymore so I sent the insert back & received a new one no questions asked.
Great warranty, fuel lasts a couple of weeks (in mine) and no more lighter fluid rash = :D.

Do a search for zippo inserts/butane inserts here on BF & you'll find quite a few threads to peruse.

Yeah, I have done a lot of reading up on the inserts and I think I'll get a Vector Thunderbird soft flame insert. It looks to be the most reliable. Anyone have any problems with them not lighting at higher elevations? I have read that the jet flame lighters have a hard time lighting past 4000ft but I haven't read anything about the soft flame butane insert having problems with it
