Best butterfly knife for under 15 dollars?

I know a company named Bear made inexpensive balis. However, I know a lot of them had problems coming apart after awhile.... but I'm sure you can find a few for $15 if Bear is still around.

I have to agree with Dave though. There are some very cheap knives that are okay but, a knife like a butterfly one, is not one I'd wanna get on the cheap.

Bear and Sons?

There's a Butterfly knife forum here. I got on it years ago and yes, Bear and Sons had what they called the minimum knife. This was years ago and you should check out the forum yourself now. They had links to videos and such.

I myself got a cheapy for $5, dulled it and learned a couple basic things. Then "been there, done that" and lost interest. Like the forum said, the cheapy got loose and rickety pretty quickly. I just kept re-peening the pins and inspected it periodically. Did I say it was well dulled, tip and all?

If I felt it was to be more than a passing fancy I would go to the forum and get their recommendation. I think it was about $25.

When you buy cheap balisongs the handles tend to bend when you drop them. My advice save your money and get a Benchmade I know they're expensive, but they won't fall apart and they'll last a very long time in general.

I bought a Bear and sons to mess with and the cheap zinc handles would bend in at the channels when I dropped it and the knife blade would get stuck until I managed to straighten the channel back out. Also the finish started flaking off and giving me splinters so I have to remove it which was a pain. I ended up chucking it in the trash after a couple weeks.

I've had other cheap Bali's which were a little better but I've found that the pins eventually wear out the zinc handles and the knife starts to fall apart. You can only hammer them back together so many times before it's a lost cause. Since then I've invested in better knives which lasts years instead of weeks.

Guy at work gave me one which wasn't too bad except it has the darn lock on the cut handle. 'Bout all I can do is a basic open and close so I never dropped it much.

I've gone the route of a cheap bali, it's just not fun. At the very least search for a Bradley Kimura. :)

Agreed, nothing nice in the $15 range. If you add a tiny bit more to it you might find someone selling a Parker Gypsy, Valor, or similar in excellent shape. The older Japanese models are nice and safe flippers. I would not trust the current crop of cheap butterflies.

The bear & son stuff is more than 15$ since it's US made, they also have the higher quality bali's in the bear ops line.
But to answer the question, there are no good bali's for 15$
