No expert here, i have only just started calling zippers by brand and paying for ridiculously priced gear bags and such so forgive my ignorance.

I have bought a new gear bag with lots of compartments which has been great for for man-bag duties. The problem is every compartment on the outside uses two YKK zippers. The zippers work great but I want to secore them closed (not locked);. The smallest carabiner leave a one inch gap between the tabs.

Anyone good quick release clips to fix this problem.

This should work:

I know they make these sorts of things in multiple sizes.
Nite Ize is carried by a lot of big box hardware stores, so you could likely go check them out in person.

Looks like it would do the job. My local doesn't stock them so will source on line.

How the fuk does nobody else have this problem. Be better if the zipper tabs had a receiver with a push tab or something so they can be secured.

I am carrying a valuable item in a small compartment on a 5.11 sling bag thingy and there is no guarantee the zipper is sealed or remains so. Someone in the grocery line behind me picked up my valuable that fell out of the compartment and handed it to me. I didn't even know it fell out.

Might just ditch the man-bag idea and go back to pockets.

I can't say that I've ever had a YKK zipper move on it's own...unless a pack was loaded and the main compartment left unzipped at least halfway on both sides. In that case, when the weight shifts it could pull the zipper down as it goes. (I keep a lot of stuff in the front compartments.)
I've never had it happen with a smaller pack or sling.

*I'm not doubting your unfortunate experience; it's just very different from my own so I haven't had to look for ways to fix it

Search "zipper lock" in your favorite seaech engine. There are options out there but most I'm aware of actually lock since they're intended for travel, specifically on airplanes.

I looked quick and some of the small s-biners seem like theh may be the best option. I know nite ize has a small s-biner available as they're used on my underquilt for hammock camping.

Per nite ize website, the #2 size s-biner is good for keychains and zippers.
