Best Diner in Maine

Hi Everbody,

I'm planning a trip to Maine in May and am looking for some good diners to eat at.
I realize some people go for the gourmet stuff, but I like the old fashioned, hole -in-the-wall, homemade food type diners.
Anybody got any suggestions?

Bee's Diner in Winslow. Absolutely the best diner I've ever been to. I think they filmed a scene of "Empire Falls" at the diner. The best sausage and biscuits I've had, hands down.

The Maine Diner in Wells, ME anything on the menu is great. The CLAM CHOWDER, and the LOBSTER MACARONI & CHEESE are 2 of my favorites.

The Old Mill Diner in Searsmont, between Augusta and Belfast on Rt 3. Best food around here. Have cash. They don't take credit cards.

Thanks guys for the input.
I think all of them are even close to the routes I want to take.
Keep the suggestions coming. I'm more than willing to take a detour for good food while I explore a new place.

YUP Absolutely agree

If you are up for a days worth of exploring stop off at the Portland waterfront and do some pub crawling. You will find some amazing food and kick ass draft beers. Trust me............

Some years ago I was on an internal US flight and I sat next to a lady who told me that her family owned and operated a very famous diner/roadhouse in Maine.
It was near a big military base and they closed the diner during the winter months.
Does anyone know it? I will be in the neighborhood in June and I would love to visit.......

The Brunswick Naval Air Station is the only major military base in Maine anymore.

Edit: just north of Portland on the coast of Maine

I think I read somewhere about the Portland Waterfront and it's food and drink.
More bars per capita than most( if not all) major US cities.
Portland Waterfront offered just about evey kind of dining you wanted from dirt cheap up to an arm and a leg ( and possibly first born child).
Exploring new cities can be very entertaining.

There is actually an yearly event at the old port called the pub crawl. Good times bro give the waterfront a try.
