Looking for an EDC knife but can't choose ( too much options :D)...
So I want a knife for EDC puposes, but can't be too big, and it has to be very tough...
Please help.
Thanks.

what is "too big" for you, as far as an EDC knife? Can you carry fixed blades as an EDC where you are? or just folders?

I've been looking at the Phat Bob, might be a little on the chunky side (hence the name), but looks to be very solid and EDC-able.
There's also the Paramilitary 2 (almost all 'What to EDC' threads will suggest this repeatedly)
Spyderco Sage 2
Kershaw Skyline (although a little too slim for my tastes)
Kershaw Knockout (like a beefier AO Skyline)
ZT 350
Military (might be "too big", it's a ~4" blade, but you won't be able to put it away once you've handled it)

there are lots more, and I'm sure others will have their preferences, those above are just the ones I have used the most that might fall under your criteria.

ESEE Izula or ESEE-3 would be my picks. Actually, you could buy both and still have $50 left over.

I like the ESEE Izula 2 in a fixed blade with lifetime, transferable, no questions asked warrnty against anything. Although I do prefer the ergos, beauty and slicing of the Spyderco Street Beat.

For folders, I like the Military ( bit too long maybe??), Para-Military, BM 710, BM Rift, Kershaw ZT 0551 (still plenty floating around at $200) and a whole slew of others. Lots of nice tough sub-$200 folders in the 3.5 - 3.75 inch range out there.

Good luck! :)

Really? A bit vague huh? Folder, fixed? Length, steel, handle material? What are your edc tasks? A plumbers cutting tasks are going to differ far greatly than an office workers.

Might as well join the crowd and throw out a suggestion. That would be the Spyderco Gayle Bradley with it's CPM M4 blade steel.

These are real beauties Rob. I'd love to have something like the bottom one in a blade closer to 3.75 - 4" long. That with a V bevel would be a knife I'd have to buy. I've never owned an Emerson.

Thanks, the top is a production. The bottom one is a custom, it will be slightly over $200 though. ;):p

Can't say anything bad about the above recommendations but a recent pickup that I've really enjoyed and can recommend is the new Hogue EX01. Good luck :)

Haha

As to the original request, I can't give one if I don't know what you are wanting. Too lazy to just post up random knifes although I like the ones Rob posted. Sweet!!

i think if i were you id try to get a better idea of what you want and try to narrow down the field to a handfull then go read as many reviews as you can on those. Are you really going to rely on a bunch of forum yahoo`s to make a expensive knife choice for you? the method of posting a help me choose a knife to help find a knife is dumb, do you make posts on other forums to help you choose toothpaste or what underware to buy ? one wonders, you could get as many responses as there are knives in the under 200 range as well as many who will insist you need to spend a little more than that to get some other perfect knife. Man up and go do your own research dude.

Alright, here are a couple of specs for the "ideal knife" for me:D:
Max 3.5 in blade
Don't really care about the weight (how heavy can a 3" knife be??:D)
Don't care about the thickness either ;)
If I missed anything just tell me.
