I have a SAK small one with the scissors on it but never use the rest of the blades (3 others) ever on it and would prefer slightly longer scissors. I don't want those folding pocket scissors that fold twice as it takes too long to deploy.

Looking for basically a SAK with just a scissor. I might opt for a scissor and one big plain edged blade together on a tool. Then I could not carry my knife and consolidate to one unit. So either a small scissor tool that goes on a keychain or a scissor/blade combo which could be bigger in size for pocket carry. It would be replacing my Kershaw Leek which while big is still fairly thin.

What would you get?
Thanks.

edit: actually a bottle opener wouldn't be too bad. Anyplace let you chose which attachment you want on a SAK and customize it or is there one with my combo in a thin 4 blade package? Bottle opener, blade, scissor. If I need a 4th blade then I would go go for a serrated blade.

Leatherman Micra?

Sounds like you might like the Victorinox Compact. It has a main blade, combo tool and scissors, plus corkscrew, hook and eyeglass screwdriver on the back side. It also includes the toothpick/tweezer combo and if you get a new one, it should also have a pen and pin. It's among the thinest of the Vics and is 91mm long. I recommend it if all you want is a blade and a pair of scissors.

Smith & Wesson shears.Tough enough to cut a penny in half & still cuts the finest thread or paper.Best 2bucks I ever spent:thumbup:

third on the leatherman micra. I like those scissors much better than those on any SAK I have ever tried (runs to 3 or 4 models, all the SAK scissors seem the same to me).
I carry a micra with me daily.

If your just looking for scissors get a pair of the smaller trauma shears, they're usually about $4 dollars, and can do just about everything full size trauma shears can and fit more comfortably in pocket.

I 4th on the Micra. I use it often. Watch out for rust though. Just clean it well.
I carried the Slip N Slip for years, lost so many that I gave up carrying them. But great little sissors though.

I picked up a pair of Klein Electrician scissors that really work great. Unfortunately, you can't carry them very easily in a pocket, but you can carry them in a pouch or sheath. These are basically indestructible.

Hi,

I carry these,

They will cut through $1000 worth of Harley leathers or the finest of snowmobile suits in a flash. And can still cut through the finest of gauze bandage material. All while doing it for not much money.

I carry the Micra with me daily but the spring in the scissors broke way too fast and its too small to operate without the spring

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually ended up deciding between a leatherman squirt S4 and a Victorinox Compact and the Vic won because of the size of it. Slim and long works better in my front pocket next to my wallet as I don't carry on my keychain or anything in my backpockets ever.

I was all set to buy it but I had to help my dad and drop him to the airport for his trip the other night so I put it off till I got back. Was talking to him about replacing my rainbow leek when he suddenly said 'one sec' and pulled out this beat up Vic classic. Missing the tweezers and pick as usual but I dig the white and it is tiny. Blade took a minute to sharpen, little oil and qtips and it was in my pocket. Now I am setup for everything from trimming hangnails to opening packages to even stripping wire. The classic is amazingly tiny, I forget it is even in my pocket.

Will wait to spend any money now but will get the Compact in the future. On a side note, this classic feels very different than the bigger one I had at home. Since I bought the black larger one I didn't like in India I am wondering if I even got a real one. Knife and scissor felt very junky compared to the classic and blade would like to close a lot.
