Hi guys,

I refer to folding knives that are generally carried on a in a belt pouch, such as the Buck 110. Some days with extra clutter in the pockets, I very much enjoy this carry option and am always looking for a new knife within this category.

Over the years I've had:
Buck 110,
Ka-Bar Mule
Gator II from Gerber
Buck Alpha

The Buck 110 is always nice except I can't open it one-handed and installing the thumb stud makes it almost impossible to put it in the pouch itself.

Just wondering if there are other suggestions in this category that might catch my eye. I realize this is probably not a popular mode of carry with folding knives.

Kershaw 1050 Folding Field (vintage)
Browning 506 Sportsman (vintage)
Valor 360 Super Spot (vintage)
Tomcat 3.0 (current)
Benchmade Adamas 275 (current) this I actually wear a lot although the sheath is kind of cheezy.

I have a couple of after market belt sheaths for my CRK's and Striders. Sometimes a belt sheath makes the most sense for carrying. I like to use a belt sheath when I go fishing or hunting. For me, it makes sense. I use a CRK pocket sheath most of the time at work. I also don't mind a belt sheath if I'm going to be around people outside of work.
I think just about any knife you may have can be carried in a belt sheath. Of course, it will be custom made.

I carry a Victorinox one hand Trekker in a belt pouch when in the woods. Its a great backup to a fixed blade, but its much more accessible and easier to carry in a pouch. Its a little heavy for pocket carry.

Buck 110. Hard to beat for price, quality, ease of sharpening, edge holding, and their forever warranty.

I would think that most folders could be carried in a belt sheath. Even if the knife doesn't come with a sheath, there are numerous aftermarket sheaths available. You could also have a sheath custom made from leather or kydex.

If I'm driving instead of riding one of my motorcycles I prefer to carry a folder in a belt sheath. Occasionally I carry my Al Mar SERE 2000 in a belt sheath (pictured. made it myself. it has a snap-down belt loop in back so I can put it on and take it off without undoing my belt). I'm currently in the process of making a sheath for my newest folder (Viper Start).

I always thought the spyderco Millie was best suited for this. It's so big closed that I haven't found any "off the rack" sheaths for it though.

Shotgun,

Get in touch with user philrr here on the forums. I hope I spelled his username correctly. He made me a great custom sheath for a large 2 blade Case.

You can open the 110 one handed. Just grab the blade, flick your wrist down and the handle drops. Next flick your wrist up, let go and grab the handle. Works good. Other than that, if you like Buck, check out the Alpha Hunter. It has thumb studs and no clip, strictly for sheath.

Buck Open Season Folding Skinner - bos s30v
- comes with a deep carry clip and a nice sturdy leather pouch, has a flipper and thumb disk...

SOG Fatcat
SOG Tomcat 3.0
Awesome knives, no pocket clips, so they come with bulky nylon pouches with only vertical carry option, they stick out and telegraph too much that you are carrying knife.
Personally I would have preferred deep pocket clips or at least slim leather sheathe with multiple carry options.

It's too big for pocket carry but very light: The Cold Steel Twistmaster, large with leaf blade. 5" of Carbon 5 goodness!
