I have a new tablet and I would like to install a navigation app mostly for highway travel. I have the Scout app for my phone which works fine but it's not compatible with my tablet. Thanks in advance.

I downloaded Copilot Gps you have to download the maps you are going to use it seems to work I tried it this morning on the way to work I just have to turn on my Gps. No network needed I really like the Waze app it will work for my phone.

I'm using Waze as well. And I was told by a friend saying after you complete the setting such as destination, you can still navigate without connection.

Waze is really cool. A friend at work told me she found it in the app store for her iPhone (after they were already lost somewhere in Chicago). They were able to set it up and got back on the correct road and found their destination. She says without it, they might still be driving around in circles. :D

You can download small maps using Google Maps and then use it to navigate with only the GPS.

I highly recommend Waze app .
On the road, Waze excels in one very critical way and traffic accuracy. It also helps that the app is free and doesn't require you to set up an account before using.
You can found Waze app from free android apps.

I just downloaded MapFactor Navigator yesterday. It's free and works offline. You can download OpenStreetMap data free for most countries, or purchase TomTom maps. The TomToms are probably more detailed and may be more accurate, but the open source maps look pretty good. It has turn-by-turn voice directions and shows upcoming turns. Free map updates every month. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but it's well reviewed at the App Store.

I use Nokia's Here Map Android app. It's free and usable offline since you download the map for the state or country you need. Offline means no traffic updates, but no data us used. Just need your GPS turned on. Works great on my phone and it also has a speed indicator with a warning if you exceed posted limit. Been using it for about a week totally offline to try it out. Also does voice turn by turn navigation and will re-route.
