Best heavy duty machete ?

What's heavy duty? What types of things you'll use it for will dictate which one you should get.

You got to be more specific bud. Thick saplings or dead branches? For a purpose or just playing with 2x4's(nothing wrong with that)?

I'd say get a becker bk4 it has amazing cutting power and doesn't tire you out
Unless its a more or less one time use thing then I'd just go to a local hardware and grab a low priced one use it then forget it.

I own a Gil Hibben Golok made out of D2 steel. Very good edge holding l must say. I also own a Jack Crane Predator Machete. I love both. If you got refined taste ; get a Jack Crane ( If he still takes orders) . If you just want a nice chopper then get the Golok in D2

I don't know why anyone would use D2 in a chopper? I'm curious what you have done with it and how it holds up. Whats the r.c.?

over grown property , brush , saplings ...... want to cut paths.........

In all honesty, an 18 inch tramontina for twenty bucks( thats including the special treatment from barynox knife) will do anything you want a machete to do.

But if you want something cool and/or fun I'd say check out Kershaw's camp series and crkt's Ken onion machete. The barynox machete is pretty awesome to.

It is good ; sir. I wish l could show you a photo . Unfortunately my web cam does not work ( l will get to relating it ) . It was a custom made. What can l say ? I love carbon steel. Originally l wanted mine in 1095 carbon but it was only available in D2. Personally.l use the Jack Crane a lot more because its more sophisticated. Would you go for a Hibben or a Crane ?

Baryonyx Machete, I've played with one and while it didn't work for me for what I was doing, what you describe it, will be perfect.

Good luck!

Trust me. The D2 is very good in terms of edge holding. I bought it second hand. I'm thinking of trading it for a Robert Parrish Survivor.

The edge retention isn't what I'd be worried about... it's the lack of toughness.

Its tough enough to split coconuts and cut vines and tree branches with ease. I haven't used it for anything thicker. For that purpose l use the Jack Crane machete. I hope this helps

Looking for the Best heavy duty machete out there ?

I have about a dozen machetes, as well as quite of collection of big choppers.

The best machete I ever purchased is the KSF Custom Machete, a HD Ontario customized by Bark River.

It was also the most expensive machete I ever purchased.

Mine is from the first batch done quite a few years back,

...and I still feel it's the best money I have spent on a machete.

Of course best is totally subjective. If you are looking to use the machete for cutting brush there is really no need to spend much money. Carbon steel machetes by Tramontina and Imacasa cost less than $20 and will do just about any hard use job you can throw at them. I literally have over 50 machetes of many different makes and styles and I have purposely tried to destroy several of them to see how much abuse they could take and the inexpensive but solid Tramontina and Imacasa makes hold up to hard use and abuse. I have customized several for just the fun of it. I use some as tools and some as back yard cutting toys and some as edge weapons.
