I had owned a kershaw once, but my brother "barrowed" it. I was just wondering what would be the best kershaw for an electrician, obviously it needs to be a tough knife, and I absolutely HATE blade play. What would be the best kershaw for stripping wires and other electrician's work?Any suggestions?Any reasonably priced?

Thank you.

I'll probably get hell for this, but I think the Kershaw "Needs Work" makes a great work/utility knife.

Couldn't agree more.

Especially the G10 version.

I'm also an electrician. I like the needs work but I hate the pocket clip on it. I usually carry a whirlwind. I find it meets all of my needs at work. A ram is also a great work knife but it's just a little too nice to carry at work everyday and I'm worried about masonry dust in the hawke lock.

That dust is pretty harsh! My buck knife got spray foam insulated in the wall a couple weeks ago....I forgot I put it there!Damn spray foamers :hopelessness: i dug it out... never was the same!

The Kershaw Rake has a good strong D2 steel cutting edge in case you have to cut through some harder stuff. Plus it's got a big belly on the blade.

No disrespect intended, after handling more examples of that specific knife than I can recall, I can say the tolerances with it were not exactly...tight. Not saying it was a terrible knife, just that they almost always have play. I should qualify as Camillus did have a few different patterns that fit that category. Think these were like the L-27's, L-29's??(my model #'s may be off, been awhile)

The OP was pretty specific of what he wasn't looking for, thus the comment.

I absolutely HATE blade play.

I work as an electrician in the mines here and the typical knife used these days is a Stanley change blade utility knife. They work well for the work we do. Before these became common though the typical knife was a hawkbill. Kershaw sells an updated version of the Talon, the Talon II and it might be a good choice for you. You might give it a look. I hope you find what you're looking for!

i don't really like those disposable knives. They're just too flimsy for a lot of the stuff I use my knife for and it's often handy to have a 3" or better blade.

As far as my Kershaws go, I've probably used my G-10 Tyrade more than any other Kershaw (not including ZT) while at work. After the Tyrade would come the JYDII, then my CB Shallot, and then one of my Volts.
