What knives would you recommend for piercing things? Just want to know so I can add more amazing knives to my collection and I need one for work out in the shop.

Purely for making a hole?

The prices vary but these are all good IMO
The extra cost is worth it on the Winkler
The SOG and Cold Steel deliver real value

Thanks for the information! I have a lot of Cold Steel and SOG knives! they are really good knives.

I imagine any SAK with an awl would be good. For shop work though you might want something like a Leatherman. I have a Super Tool 300 that is built like a tank and comes in handy as a backup when I forget a tool.

Any harness jack or sak with a punch. Maybe an ice pick.
The "reamer with sewing eye" as a back tool on the larger Swiss army knives is as ideal as you're going to find.

The awl on the Pioneer and '61 Soldier patterns is just as good.

I wouldn't want to use a knife blade for this duty; it'd ruin the tip, or at least blunt it.

Ok. I'll be looking for an awl or ice pick, then!

Are we talking about the Mick Burger specials? Still can’t figure out why people spend that much for a shank made of scrap Ti....

Kiridashi, available in both folding and fixed, make good marking knives and piercers

Only the finest Mikey Ray Burger specials will do! For those "special operations" jobs! LOL!

Does he really have a model called a "Prison Shank"?

I love kiridashi. One of the most useful small utility designs around!

I'm going to offer you a piece of friendly advice. How you choose to react to it will be somewhat telling.
