Anybody have or had one that was the perfect thing to take on trips? did hook removers on those come in useful at any point?

I have yet to find one but would also like to know. I use a pair of pliers, hook removers, and my mini grip. 3 thing I always have with me when I am fishing

Maybe there's a leatherman out there with that stuff... that would be awesome

I agree, and my Swisschamp does get a bit stinky when I go fishing. I have two, and the one I use when fishing is not my EDC. I give it a good cleaning and let it air a bit, and the stink eventually goes away. If I fished more often, I'm sure I'd use a more dedicated fishing knife, but for as often as I go, I do like my Swisschamp. Funny thing is, my backyard borders at a nice size creek that many people boat on and like to fish, but I only probably fish it a few times a year.

I'll throw in my two cents. Try a Leatherman Sidekick or Wingman--both are cheap as compared plus the scales are removable for easy cleaning. I've taken one apart and put it back together (it was a pain) but I got it clean.

You'd want something that you wont cry if it gets lost in the drink, or covered in fish stink!

I agree 100% plus the scissors are accessible from the outside for those line trims.

Too many nooks and crannies to hide scales and other fishy things that don't take too long to stink.

I would avoid a multitool for fish duty, just for this reason. Any knives that are going to be used for processing animals should be easy to clean. Blood and guts stink, but they also give bacteria something to thrive on, and the salt in blood can give the rust a jump-start on your tools.

Instead of using a multitool, I'd suggest a cheap fixed blade (like the Mora knives), and a pair of locking forceps for hook removal. These are both cheap and very effective, and can be easily cleaned with soap and water.

I might look into the Blacktip by SOG. Very long needle-nose pliers, line cutter, scaler, disgorger, leader crimper. Not, however, lightweight.

I keep a Gerber Flik in my wader chest pocket.
I fly fish the salt at least once a week either from the beach or from my pontoon in the bay.
One flick of the wrist and the pliers are ready to use to remove a fly or squash a barb.

Leatherman surge it's a bit bulky but it gets the job done really well you could also combo it with a mora frost for game processing

I dont know if youd count it as a multitool but I just keep an old pair of needle nose pliers in my backpocket. I also have a dedicated sak in my tackle box to do whatever else is needed if I dont want to use whatever my edc is.
