Looking for something for touchups on the go. I’ve been messing around with small cuts of leather for pocket strops and want to push it to the next level, as it were.

It’s my understanding that it’s down to the Spyderco Doublestuff (I think both the original and the new one are still available) and the Fallkniven DC3.

I hear the CBN side of the new doublestuff is hyper aggressive. As I said, I’m probably not looking for damage repair. Whatcha got?

Well that is only one side of a double sided stone after all.
Other options depend a lot on your tastes, habits, and needs.
There are those folding sharpeners from DMT, as well as those credit card sized diamond sharpeners.

I usually just use my stones for my kme or edge pro. Wrap them up in a small towel and throw them into the car or a bag and bring a few along on a trip. The kme sizes take some getting used to they are 1x4 . The edge pro stones are 1x6 so they are easier to use because if the length either in hand or as a bench stone on a modified holder. But width on both can be tricky to not cut your fingers if you sharpen in your hands. Unfortunately they are not double sided but I think you have more choices in grit sizes and abrasives with these over most double sided pocket stones.

When I first started learning to use diamonds I used a double sided Fallkniven stone and I destroyed it pretty bad, but I did end up learning how to use it for some decent edges before it was toast. Before that time I mostly used ceramic stones and no super steels.

I think my venev bonded stones were my fav as far as hand touch ups in the field as long as you don't need to refresh them. Otherwise not a long term solution due to that.

My one field sharpening tool is an eze-lap coarse credit card size diamond plate.
My two field sharpening tools are the above, and the same thing in extra fine.
They live in my wallet and possibly help shield my bankcards from being scammed in urbanville.
