Hello,

I already have a great set of wiha torx bits, but recently I got into high end production knives( midtechs as well) and many knife models have hex screws instead of torx screws
I used my generic set to adjust my hinderer, but Id like to upgrade to something of higher quality
I see alot of double packs on amazon ranging from small to big sizes but I assume Id only need 1 that covers the smaller size hexs ( not sure which sizes are common for knives)
Also Im not sure if ball end or flat is better in this case
would love some input/recommendations!
thanks in advance

Wiha makes great tools, I have both wiha and snap on screw drivers and honestly I find myself using the wiha more.

I prefer ball end, they help if you don't have a straight shot at the screw, or if it's got gunk in it. Both of which should be rare occurrences in high end knives. The advantage I can see of using a ball end is there is no sharp edges to scratch the screw. Something you may want to think about when taking apart a 800 dollar knife

Bondhus! I work on industrial presses and I use bondhus exclusively now. I use the smallest being .050 all the way up to 3/4 inch hex keys and I haven't broke one or stripped one in 3 years. I would trust them for sure.

Bosch ! Plenty hard steel, not brittle though. A touch tighter fit than most anything else; important for damaged sockets or poorly made fasteners.
Bondhus is very good. I use the ball ends some but only to run fasteners snug then tighten with the square end or a stubby. Some of the fasteners I have to work with are too poorly made to hold up to strong torque using a ball end.

I have gone way out of my way and paid some serious money to get Bosch bits. Especially for the very small Bosch because they are way better than other brands. Talking 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm.

Ha ha it was made up once though . . . I ordered one tool bit and I got a package of ten for like $8. I wound up gifting some of them to another mechanic who has been very kind.

Can't go wrong with Wera or Wiha.

I haven't felt a need for ball ends but it sure wouldn't hurt to have both ball and square.

Bondhus is favourite for keys. But I have a few others what are equally good.
Apex for insert 1/4" bits, Most any of the better known europeans for drivers, they seem equally good.

The Chapman Allen bits are well made (USA). They sell replacement parts. Chapman is a little short on the smaller TORX bits, but I like their other bits just fine. I have the WIHA, WERA, and Bondhus stuff. I noticed that some of the German stuff is now being imported from the far east.
Don't use the ball end tools for torquing, they will snap off.
