Going to taking a trip on a buddies boat to the Bahamas for Memorial Day weekend. Looking to invest in a decent pair of polarized sunglasses. Would prefer to keep it under $50, but might splurge and go up to $100. What does everyone recommend?

Costa del mar glasses are nice but out of your listed price range. I wear calcutta sunglasses and they are nice for $20-$25. I have a fat head and the steelheads fit me just fine. Give them a look. Good luck on your search I'm sure there are lots of options.

I use Costa Del Mar with Amber glass lenses. They will be over your budget in glass but you may get them in plastic for around $100.
There is a brand called Ocean Eyes that sells really nice replicas of costas for around $30. They are very well built and have great designs.
You can find them in boat, marine or tackle shops.

As long as they are polarized they will cut down on the glare but I would stay away from Grey tint and stick with Amber.
Grey makes the world look drabby. Amber lenses are crisp, clear and vibrant.

I am on the water regularly. I recently just switched from Costa Del Mar to Oakley. The difference between a decent pair fo glasses and a cheap pair is never more obvious than on the water in bright sunlight. If this a one time thing, look at Calcutta. Their decent and in your range. if this is something that is going to be more common place, step up to a premium pair. Trust me, it is not vanity. Oh yeah - blue lenses will probably be the way you want to go.

Blue lenses are in fact the recommended type for watersports.

I have a pair of Spys with custom lenses, I race sailboats semi pro, I'm on the water a lot. If this is something you are going to do often, I would consider $100 to be the low end. But if you're prone to breaking or losing them, check out the fishing section of walmart.

I live in South Florida and spend lots of time on the water. I have 2 pairs of Costas, 1 pair or Maui Jim's and one pair of Ovean Waves. By far, I would choose Ocean Waves. But your looking in the $160 range. Your choice.

Gonna hit some stores this week to see what I find. West Marine seems to have a wide selection.

The eye doctor I used to do a lot of work for recommended Maui Jim. I got a couple of pair for me in bronze lenses and for my color blind dad got the greys. They are the second best things I've ever put on my face.

Whatever you get, make sure they are polarized.

I haven't tried Ocean Waves, but my eyes sure like Maui Jim's- if you can swing it your eyes are worth it

Another vote for Costa Del Mar and I TOTALLY agree with Acetylene above- go with the blue lenses if you are on the water. I tried maui Jim and a few others and once I found Costa's I havent been happy with any other lens.
