im looking for a good new pack i was looking for a three day tactical pack with mollie on it and thats made in the USA. ive been looking at bds, 5.11 (but i dont think it is US made) , eagle ,valkor, tactical tailor, and fire force. any info on these brands would be very helpful and also any other options ( preferably under $175). thanks

Tactical tailor gets my vote. If you want something added to a pack they have they can do it. You will paay a price for that service but it will be unique and it will be backed for life. They are good folks there. My fave is the 3dap+. Its not molle equiped but you have complete modularity without having to have molle. Just my .02 cents

Kelty makes some damn fine ones too like the map 3500 and the kelty strike. Both can be had for a little over $100.

Kifaru, First Spear, and Goruck are worth looking at, prices are higher than Tactical Tailor. I have several products from TT, and they are made very well, shipping and customer service are spot on. I just got a second hand First Spear Comm pack, and it's also overbuilt as far as stiching, nice zippers etc..
My Goruck packs are the best constructed packs I've ever seen. I was just looking at some 5.11 packs in a store, and they aren't even in the same ballpark. The mesh on the interior seemed weak, the zippers have small teeth, and the padding looks like it will wear out under heavy loads. Problem with lots of tactical packs is the excessive features, compartments, too many zippers, and other failure points. There may be lots of space, but if it's divided up into four sections, you will be limited on what you can carry. I can stuff a sleeping bag, a large pair of boots or other larger objects into my Goruck GR1, but not some of the compartmentalized tactical bags I've seen. Plus, I don't want to look like I'm wearing a tactical bag in urban areas or work, thus the Goruck and the Comm pack(Comm pack looks like a college kids laptop backpack.
I have a Kifaru cargo carrier on order, it's going to be for backpacking, they have a great reputation and make great looking tactical packs.

does anyone have any experience with fire force packs?

Never heard of them, till now. Looking at their site, it's hard to tell much about their quality. Their pics aren't very detailed, they list dimensions of the packs, but not the total volume. Their pics are all out of context, no gear, person, or background in which to get an idea of size. 1000 denier cordura, YKK zippers, double stiched and taped seams, urethane coating, all sound good. I don't like urethane coatings on some gear, I've seen it wear off the inside of stuff sacks etc..
OTOH, they may be great products, can you not find any other info about them?

Mystery Ranch 3DAP is my favorite pack ever.

The Kelty map 3500 is really nice too.

I have actually owned both of these.

Check out the Spec Ops T.H.E. Pack. They have the coyote brown pack on sale for half off $(99.00). Great pack with a great warranty.

I have the First Spear Comm pack, and though not "huge" it does fit the bill for EDC, it will hold a 15" Laptop nicely along with an assortment of other items.
The Ranger/Coyote colour is perfect EDC and is low profile. Well made, fit&finish along with the materials are excellent, and made in the US.
