Best Throwing Tomahawk

I recently purchased a Cold Steel Trench Hawk, and the handle broke within 3 throws. I decided that I would turn to wooden handles, so does anyone know what the best throwing tomahawk is with a wooden handle. I am not looking to spend more than $70. Preferably it would have a spike on the backside.

Throwing a hawk causes more stress on the handle than just about anything you can do to it. Wooden handles can break quickly as well. I know you looking for a wooden handle and don't want to spend more than $70.....but if your willing to be a little more flexible in your choices.......the VTAC throws like a dream and the likely hood of a break is almost zero.

I use two for throwing, a Beaver Bill Premium Throwing Hawk and a 2Hawks Competition Hawk. I like a smooth straight wooden handle on a thrower. Wood handles are cheap, and easily replaceable. I find the smooth straight tapering wooden handle releases from the hand more smoothly than from textured grippy handles or those that are flared at base. smooth = accurate

Best is always subjective but IMO for the money H&B Forge without question......only issue is a 9-12 week wait. That is how good they are. But the reality any wood handled throwing hawk will break a handle on occasion regardless of the quality or price. I throw weekly and have many hawks and for a beginner I would just order a couple of cold steel throwing hawks and go from there. Do some paint removal/sanding/deburring and they make good throwers.

I noticed the CRKT Kangee, and that looks like a nice hawk with a full tang. I was just wondering what people thought of this, how it throws, and what the purpose of the edge on the top of the blade is.

CRKT Kangee is a beast of a hawk, but more of a working/camp type tool as opposed to a thrower. I have one and you can throw it but the head is a bit to heavy.

KIll devil sniper hawk by swamp rat is quite a bit over budget but I love it. You can even stick it by its handle ;). I throw it tons.
