Best Torx Tool/Wrench?

For working on knives? I would highly recommend this set:

It is made by Husky. I think I bought mine at Lowes or Home Depot. They work great for taking knives apart. They have lots of different sizes of bits. All the way down to the little itty bitty ones.

Another vote for Wiha. Mine has been solid and durable. Most importantly, it appears to be be built to tight tolerances.

I recommend Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment or Gadgets & Gear, since the original post wasn't discussing knives. :)

Moved ... (bada boom!)

Wiha is generally considered the best torx tools. BladeHQ has a nice torx set labeled as Boker but it is made by Wiha. http://www.bladehq.com/item--Boker-Knives-Toolkit-Torx--8073

They are made by Wiha, but they are NOT the same quality as the Wiha 267 series Torx screwdrivers. Below is a pic of the T6 bit on the Boker/Wiha one (exact same one, also ordered from BladeHQ) next to the T7. The T7 has never been used, and the T6 has been used (not abused). The wear is very readily apparent. I have a set of the Wiha 267 ones at work, and after years of use, the fins are still sharp and fit/grip/bite into the Torx screws very well.

The Wiha 267 Precision series is excellent. The more budget-friendly one they made for Boker, not so much.

Another recommendation for Wiha. Two things make them better - they are machined to very tight tolerances, so they fit well. Plus, the bits are hardened so they don't round over or cam out as easily.

Well worth the investment.

Anyone ever see this happen before?

It's the AVEN 13.921 T6x50 driver. Cost me almost as much as a Wiha, and since this was available and the Wiha wasn't at the time, I thought I'd give it a shot. Well, that's what the head looks like after tightening the pocket clip screws on a couple knives, using only thumb- and middle-finger torque on a 3/8" thick portion of the handle.

That is from improper heat treatment on the bit. Had a few different ones spiral out on me, generally on screws I later find out had red or white thread lock on them. Even good drivers can spiral out, but bad ones will do it under no force like your did. Sorry you got burned. They have a warranty?

I got these. Happy so far.

I can tell you what are great and what are not. I have broken multiple husky torx but my wiha have never broken. I'm not even sure I'm strong enough to break them. The steel is simply much stronger with the wiha.
