I like the 3M Cubitron sandpaper, but the finest grit I've found it in is 400.

Is there an equivalent quality 1000 grit product that's somewhat available?

Falling that, what's the best widely available 1000 grit sandpaper, and is it worse than the Cubitron, and if so, in what ways is it not as good?

Ok. Thanks.

Would you consider it better, similar, or not quite as good as the purple Cubitron(comparing close to the same grits, since the Cubitron maybe doesn't come finer than 400?) Based on the description and reviews, I'd guess similar/equivalent?

Best hands down is "Black Ice" sold online or at your local Automotive Paint supply
Lasts and lasts then stays sharp till the end

TruGrit has "Black Ice"

Is Black Ice much better than INDASA RHYNOWET RED LINE paper? I've been using Rhynowet paper for several yr after seeing folks extol how great it is. Pop's seems to have the best price around when purchased by the 50 sheet pack of $28.75 for grit from 180 to 1200 grit.

I’ve used both black ice and rhynowet. Under 800g, I like black ice, 800 and over, I like rhynowet. It also depends on the steel. Rhynowet is aluminum oxide, while black ice is silicon carbide. Silicon carbide is harder than aluminum oxide. Vanadium carbides are harder than both, so neither will work well on hardened high vanadium steels. You need CBN or Diamond abrasives with high vanadium steels.
