Better than loctite?

Looks good for lots of applications. I was curious what heat range it remains effective in. It says; -65*f to 165*f. So, nominally just fine, but a torch would likely break it down. That's ok though, I may want to try it.

I use blue Loctite. It's made to allow disassembly with hand tools but still secure the fastner

I've never had anything loosen that I've used it on as long as the threads were degreased before using and no heat was needed to takedown if needed.

What qualifies as better? Holds tighter? Holds well but is easier to unscrew?

KaBar Becker BK5 magnum camp is my favorite go-to "do it all" camp knife... pointy tip, sweeping belly, thick spine, flat ground, 8" of awesomeness...

Pair with a mora companion and SAK and you're all set for any adventure...

Yup!

Same here; LocTite 242

Depends - handles on a Becker? the latter ... critical brake part on a motorcycle, especially a dirtbike or pre '-04 Sportster? The former!

I don't know if better is the issue but it holds well enough and is removable.

The first thing I used standard loctite on I wanted to remove sometime later. Words were said, serenity was disturbed. I've used blue ever since.

I meant better for Becker handle nuts. Because it is reusable. You treat the screw, let it dry then fasten. You can fully assemble, remove, then reassemble. Without retreating, and still have protection.

You can treat the threads let it dry, and use it at a later date. Pretty neat stuff.

The red is stronger when you need full assurance, probably not on a knife handle. :D Loc-tite is fine, but whether it is blue or red, both are effective for a single use cycle only. If vibra-tite performs as advertised, then you get multiple chances for each application. That's pretty cool.

Did you use this stuff?
If so, how’d it work?
Would like to hear some results.

I’ve been using Nylock nuts for a few years and have had zero issues.

I just got some in the mail. I'll try it and check back. May take a while to know if it's effective. What is a good test?

See if you can tighten and loosen your screws more than 5 times I would call that pretty damm good :D

Don't anyone use RED Loctite on your knife screws . Red Loctite is good for disc brake rotor bolts. To remove bolts get out your oxygen and acetylene torch Heat the heads to red hot move to the next than back to the first so heat can transfer deep than try to loosen bolt :D The only way to get Harley Rotor bolts out when Red Loctite is used ;) Blue 242 is cool but so is just tightening probably

I degreased and treated 3 bolts last night. Says to let dry at least 10 minutes. It goes on as a liquid, but doesn't run around the threads like locktite. I spread it with my finger, and it's sticky like honey. I'll begin testing tonight.

I'm declaring it a success. I spun a nut on the bare threads it hit the pink zone, and stopped. Felt similar to a nylock nut. Maybe 90% as hard as a new nylock nut. Could not hold the nut with fingers.

Removed and reasembled 6 times. After a slight drop off after the initial cycle, no noticeable difference on the other 5 times.

I was impressed. You just have to make sure you treat the right section of the threads for proper engagement. My opinion Vibra tite VC3 threadmate, is indeed better than loctite for Becker handle bolts. Ed

FYI, learned this tip on the motorcycle with factory locktited bolts. Use a solder iron to heat the bolt, especially if you have access to the end of the bolt. heat for a a few and wallaa, works like a charm.

Thanks Ed, for the heads up looks to be some good thread locker
