Hi everyone,
I have heard of people removing the child safety things on a bic lighter. Is it safe to do? How is it done?

Thanks,
Ace

insert the tip of needle nose pliers into the area where the flame comes out.

gently lift up and you will be able to get the child proof locking to lift up
once its out you can pull the rest of it out by hand or adjusting your grip with the pliers and then pulling it off.

once you've removed it simply bend everything back into place.

cheers

hope that helped

I knew a girl who used to do it with her teeth.

I really don't recommend that, but you can pry it off easily too :D

The only two things that can really go wrong is the two metal "teeth" holding the safety down can be bent upwards and if you push too hard you can knock the wheel out. The first is easily fixed with pliers or just pushing them down with any piece of metal. Just be careful and you'll never have the second problem happen. I just ripped off them off a 6 pack I bought with a LM Micra screwdriver with no problems.

I just use a sheetrock screw between the offending metal piece and the spark wheel .
