Big Bang for the BUCK

Plain and simple the Timberlline Tactical division, Wortac in D2. Cheap off the bay, very well made, seems the blade steel is heat treated correctly, and the machining done on the knife is very well done and very precise. Con is that the knife weighs about 8 oz. Has the dual pivot screws which are a pain to loosen and tighten. The coating I assume is teflon but could be black paint. Gonna remove it as soon as I can figure out how to get the knife apart because of the dual screw pivot. But all things considered for the price it is a huge bang for the buck.

Very ergonomic grip too and big so it fits my hand well. Has a glass breaker on the bottom of the handle that is solidly held in place. Thick G10 and alum. back spacer that is nicely machined. Made in China is probably how they get away with making such a knife with all the machining that is done to it. The blade came kind of sharp and took some effort to bring to a sharpness I like. Has nice big thumb studs too so you can manipulate it open with gloves, I assume so anyways, haven't tried that. Anyways all you folks that like big robust knives that are well made and finished for not a lot of bucks, this might be the way to go. keepem sharp

I call bs on it being d2.....or it's d2 that never saw a heat treat. No way at that price. Interested if someone could test to see.

No thanks, I’d rather buy from dealers that support this site. They offer a variety of knives to fit everyone’s budget

Found them at the first two I looked at . Doesn't necessarily mean they are great , but usually not complete crap or clones (hopefully) ! :)

It's very likely to be the stated steel.

Timberline has been making knives for decades. Has collaborated with some of the greats.

I have a Timberline Emerson/Neely Specwar from the 90s. It's in ATS-34.

At 8oz, I wouldn't be interested. You have available so many fantastic knives at the $30-50 price range that anything that heavy is just cumbersome for no reason. Hello Rat 1/2...Spyderco budget series....Etc.

Just giving my impressions of the knife, is all. Timberline seems to me to be a decent company and have owned several of the Specwar Emerson designed knife as well over the years. I don't think they would falsely state a knife steel to be something it is not. Seems to hold a very good edge.

I didn't buy it from Blade HQ and don't support them if I can help it. Carrying the knife is not bad with jeans or carhart shorts on . With lighter weight drawers it would likely be a pocket dragger. OK thats it.
