Im wanting to get a big, all purpose chopper that still fits in as a "knife" not a machete or an axe. are there many that are as big and tough as say, a Becker BK9 or RTAK II / Junglas. Please educate me.

Wut?

On topic; the RTAK ii is a great chopper though the handle is large but it soaks up shock well I find. The BK9 is an essential knife to own IMHO and performs well above it's price point. I regret selling mine FWIW.

I've handled a Junglas and it's sweet too, just spendier than the first two. ;)

Some of the choppers here with a Spyderco Military for scale. Top down :RTAK II , Bryan Breeden beast in 01 steel, Scrapyard Dogfather, Swamprat Rodent 9, and Scrapyard 1311...

Lots of options.;):D

I have several choppers and the one that fits your description best is my Busse Basic 10 LE with choil. The choil allows me to "choke up" on the blade for fine work and the OAL/blade thickness makes a great chopper.

There have been some good suggestions made. For a budget option the Condor Barong chops very well. The Ontario Marine Raider Bowie is no slouch either.

CS Trailmaster, most any Busse or Swamp Rat will do also. I've been using and abusing all 3 brands for many years. :D

Ontario Rangers in 5160
Von Tempsky in L-6
Survive in 3V
KaBar Large Bowie 1085 ( best value)
Browning Crowell Barker Competition ( certified for competitions )

Ontario, Survive, and Kabar are V grind. Others are Convex ground. All are good, Von Tempsky is largest and maybe heaviest with 11 inch blade. Others are 9 inches or more.

Full custom is fun too; I have this beast in the works right now. It has a 12" blade of S7 steel, .250 thick, almost full flat grind.

Giggity.;):D

Dpx has an interesting new big chopper. There is some video of it at the shot show under dpx gear

IMHO Busse.

Also Scrap Yard (a Busse subdivision)

I have never owned one but GSO 10 is a large chopper that many like.

Browning Crowell Barker Competition. Designed by chopping champions. And affordable. Love mine.
