billy watson knives

Billy Watson of Alabama? We're both members of the forge council, and I've seen his work, which is very nice. Makes some excellent period pieces. I've never had the chance to test one of his knives, but I suspect they would preform well.

There was an article on him in Tactical Knives, I think.

 ...for a 'fair price'??!! Billy needs to jack up his prices at least double on some of those good-lookin' knives. Now THAT'S some value for a handmade forged knife.

I have a Watson drop point utility. I am EXTREMELY impressed by the performance of this knife. It has become my do everything fixed blade. I can't recommend his knives enough, especially considering the price. thehighroad.org is down right now but once it is back up, I'll get some pics.

daniel, thanks for the pics....that's exactly the kind of knife I'm looking for - a dependable fixed blade that isn't so costly that I would be afraid to use or lose.

if you don't mind, could you email me how much that thing cost and how you managed to get it? I understand that bw has quite a wait time?
 
Spyken if you take a look at the Crazy Crow link in my previous post you will see that it is practically the same knife as Dan's made by Billy Watson and avaialable now for $79.00 + S/H.

thanks for the tip. so that's the eastern hunter. I thought the eastern hunter had a reddish wood.

his stuff looks affordable to me....phew.
 
That is about the price that I paid for my blade. I actually picked it up when I happened upon Watson's booth at a local historical festivity called the Feast of the Hunter's Moon. He has a booth there every year that I've been there. He is a very nice gentleman and I love his knives!

All of Billy's knives I've had in hand or seen had maple grips and depending on the type of maple and the finsh used maple will have a reddish cast which tends to fade over time and with use.
