I wanted to be a little different, instead of just small neck knives, I wanted to start a thread about bird n trout knives or those knives you use for that purpose or as a small utility knife. So show some them off. I do not use mine for hunting or fishing, I am not a hunter or fisherman, but I find the smaller thin size really cool and handy. The first one is from Dwayne Childress in 440C and I think the second is one from Bill Redd in D2.

Finally I have two more, a bird n trout from Wolf Creek Forge in AEBL and orange g10, and a bird n trout from GL Drew in 52100 and I believe cocobolo.

anyone out there want to share their bird and trout knives? Let's see them. :D

This is one I have with a not bird and trout knife. :D Only pictures I have of it at the moment.

Nice thread! - I LOVE the bird & trout/EDC-ish fixed genre most of all.

Here's my current favorite EDC fixed, made by a young man from Croatia called Mika:

Here's my current favorite longer bird & trout, made by the great Robert Erickson:

Finally, here's my current favorite not quite so long bird & trout (mine is the one with maroon micarta & brass hardware), made by the great Joshua Gallardo:

Thanks everyone, that Big Chris one is cool. And that Behring is a killer!! What is the blade length on it?

Thanks Kris, it 4/5 weight, bamboo, built for me by the one and only, Glenn Brackett. I will get back with the blade length.

Kris

I like small utility fixed blades too. Got this one from one of the BF knifemakers, Brian at Evans knife and tool. Great little EDC knife

This is the only Cold Steel knife I own. I bought it years ago at a gun show. I like the way it fits the hand.

Keep them coming, nice pics and nice knives. Just to add to it, do you use it in the kitchen or camp kitchen?

I have one of those long discontinued Gerber Bird & Trout knives sitting at the back of a desk drawer that hasn't been used for years.

It's a nice little blade, thin, and darned hard steel to boot, but I don't hunt much anymore, so there she sits.

Bird and trouts are MONEY! But when I go backpacking I definitely prefer folders for this purpose nowadays, which is sad in a way because bird and trouts and small fixed blades are cool!

Does a Mora 2/0 count? It is used more often than I admit because it's so darn easy to pack along on a fishing or hunting trip.

There is so much variation in samples of that genre I am not even sure what it is.

I think the Mora counts. I'm rehandling a Mora now an it'll be pretty bird-and-trouty when done. The term is a bit nebulous but meant to distinguish the knife from a skinner, a heavier hunter, or a small bowie. It comes from an era in US and UK shooting and hunting when there weren't quite so many different styles. It's a handy family of knives, the bird and trout style.
