There is countless debate on the merit's of a finger choil on Larger knives....
Pretty much everyone agrees that smaller knives Shouldn't have them. Haha. Idk, now?

It all started when I first picked up my BK-62.....the thin, small handle just almost feels like my index finger "should" go over it...

I kept that blade closer to original, but when I was lucky enough to win a Cammie BK-11 that feeling came back. I knew I would need to buy one, and see what I could come up with.....

I am Really happy with the results!
It feels very natural.
I've never made scales before, so I wanted to give that a try too.

It's about 70% finished. I still have some minor handle shaping, and sanding. More sanding on the spine to remove some marks. Patenia redo.
And a new sheath....It was A lot of fun, and I realized I need some knife making tools now! Haha.
I appreciate all the work and effort all the pros do in their knife making endeavors.

Can't make up my mind yet if I like it or not, haha, but great work though!

It's so Ugly, it's Good!
You might appreciate that it fits in the hand better?
With such a huge palm swell, it fills in for a strong grip.

Really creative use of the HDPE (I assume) washer for the spacer!

Thanks.... I wanted to make sure the scales wouldn't shift with heavy use.
I measured it so it's wedged/drawn into to angle of the inner hollow of the tang. (I believe it's nylon... But still strong, moisture, and impact resistant)

Haha you copycat I love it, it looks great!

But I will say yours is probably better with your THICK custom handles. The Kabar micarta on mine is ok but a thick palm swell would be nice.

On the whole choil/ no choil thing: personally I don't like choils. It's what keeps me off the bk15 and bk5. However, I don't see this mod as a choil because I only use it with the full grip. For me it was never to choke up on the blade, but just to make the bk11 a full hand grip blade.

I agree, it just seems like the Right way to hold the knife.
I'm almost surprised how normal it works.
it's just a grip.

I think it's funny how good/correct this looks.

Added a handy kydex sheath. I oriented it so I have easy access, even with jackets or packs, sitting, whatever...
