Bk 17 question

They were a normal production knife that was around for years and was just discontinued, probably for lackluster sales; absolutely no incentive to making any more of them.

There was one in the 4 sale section a few days ago (fixed blade ). it would be a page or 2 back by now.

I just luv the BK15, 20 and 29...
If there would happen to sneak a BK1, BK4 or BK24 into my small collection i wouldnt cry...or a Bk6 or...

I keep thinking that I will stumble into a little hardware/hunting/fishing store in a little town and there will be a little old man shopkeeper, smoking a pipe by the pot belly stove with a stash of BK15s on the shelves who would let them go for a song.

A couple years ago, I stumbled in to a gun shop with a Cam 9. He was asking $100 for it. Proprietor was such a jerk, though, that I just couldn't go through with it.
He had some 17s at the time, but they hadn't been discontinued yet.

I have the 16. To my hand it’s the best feeling and handling knife on the planet IMHO. I hope Ka-Bar knows that and never discontinues it.
I’d take one in heavier 3/16” (0.188”) stock if they made one, but the current 16 is a wonderful balance of weight and size.

I got both my 17 and 15 well after they were discontinued. Keep your eyes open, they pop up for sale regularly. Or you could put a feeler out there, make it known you're looking for one and someone may be willing to part with theirs. That's how I got mine.

Yes. It's you. You need to publicly state that you hate the 15 and they will bring it back. A guy was selling a 5 for $50 on the Exchange a couple of days ago, and I almost got it just because it would be a spare that I could maybe trade somebody for a 15 later. Still kicking myself for A) not getting a second 15 at a reasonable price when I had a chance and B) using epoxy on the wood scales I made for it instead of making them easy on/off. Sigh.

I got a BK15 some years back. Oh my gosh, it's a favorite in the kitchen. May carry it as a woods knife. Great size and weight. The BK17 is sweet looking, but went with the 16 because I don't have many drop points. I prefer clip points and wish I got one when I could. Guess I need to go hunting for one. LOL!

I was in a military & police uniform shop a couple weeks ago and spotted a 15. I got it for less than Ka-bar’s MSRP.

I went in the same shop today and saw a 17. Same price. Bought it!

No, they don’t have anymore.

That NEVER happens to me.
