Looking for a good sheath for the BK9. Not a huge fan of the standard sheath. Any suggestions? Kydex? Leather? Nylon?

I still use the stock sheath, but have been eying kydex for the waterproof factor. There are a few members on this forum that make them. I forget names, but I say check the sheath section or search around. I like the taco style kydex sheath since it seems to take up less room.

This is just my opinion. You might like something different. Look around. Members here have a lot of nice sheaths.

I like the stock sheath, but the insert leaves much to be desired. That insert is stitched into the edges so removal typically means destruction. Hopefully soon someone will come up with an economical solution.

how do you wanna carry it? I dont mind the stock sheath since its lashed to my pack. for a drop leg id recommend upgrading although some dont mind the stock sheath for that either. I would also recommend considering the uses. For hardcore camping id say kydex, but leather is awesome too, I just cant bring my self to beat the crap outta my leather by taking it on hardcore trips with lots of weather changes and what not.

I bought a Condor Hudson Bay just for the sheath. It was like 30 bucks or something. Wanted leather for the BK9 and it fits like it was made for it. Reground the condor, put it in the kitchen knifeblock, told the little woman "here's that cleaver I got you" and put the 9 in it's new pants. Win/win.

Or you could buy a junglas sheath.

Try him for this.Super guy.

i'm glad you had a good experience with this guy but i wouldn't do business with marion poff even if he gave me a free sheath. check the esee forum's for sale/feedback thread. multiple really bad feedbacks about this guy...including taking jeff randall's money (owner of esee knives) for some sheaths ahead of time and have yet to deliver on them...really bad joo joo with this guy.

...just watching out for my fellow beckerhead homies.

Marion Poff does excellent work....its just getting it to you on time and communicatio he has issues with.

My favorite sheath maker is Nick. I told him my idea for a modular BK9 sheath that converts from scout sheath mode to dangler mode and he built it. Cant wait to get my BK2 scout sheath.

My BK9 & BK11 are with custom knife maker Mark Wohlwend, he is making me a kydex piggyback system ...the 9/11 Combo !

Here is mine.

Mashed Cat Outfitters. Excellent work. Works awesome. Wear it all day long w/no issues. It bends & flexes with you for total freedom of movement.

I have a kydex one from chestnut ridge knife shop. I like it. I was too lazy to bother sending the knife away, so CRKS worked out well for me. My one gripe is the weak hardware snapped off when I drew it from my belt the first time. I put new hardware on and it works great.
