I thought this was pretty interesting. It seems that BladeHQ is releasing an exclusive version of the discontinued Kershaw Skyline. Their version is going to feature CPM-20CV steel and Jade G10 scales. I only see the uncoated version listed as coming soon, but if you watch the video, it looks like a version with a coated blade is also on the way. I don't know if Kershaw made some improvements (or if the knife was just cherry-picked), but the knife in the video has better action than any Skyline I've ever owned...

As much as I dislike Jade G10, A Skyline in 20CV is pretty enticing. Hopefully there's still some aftermarket scales available for it, I remember there were plenty while the skyline was in regular production.

I got an original Skyline, in 8Cr...; Won't flip worth a d...
Found lots of other knives I like better.

It always worries me just a little bit when I see 20CV on Kershaws. Not because of any knock on their more expensive knives, but because I’ve owned some of their cheaper offerings that were downright disgusting (in my opinion), and I feel like they can put a good steel with a good HT on a knife without all that much work and effort, whereas upgrading the whole knife requires some doing.

The question becomes; is this a $50 knife with nicer blade steel, or is it $100 knife with appropriate blade steel?

As many knife reviewers will mention, it’s about how much work goes into it, not necessarily the materials: how much effort went into improving the skyline?

I have got to say I love BHQ's signature jade look. I need some jade scales.
I have never bought a Kershaw but was thinking about buying an American one. How is this knife, folks who have had it before?

BladeHQ had previously released an exclusive Skyline with jade G10 and 14C28N steel. They must have jade some leftover scales to use up!

Sorry, but you never had an original Skyline. They never released that model in 8Cr. You must have had an XL which are generally regarded as crap compared to the Oregon made 1760.

I've never seen a skyline that would open without a ton of wrist flick. Get a Leek or Blur (or Dividend if you're okay with a flipper tab only) instead. You won't get 20CV or jade G10, but you will get a knife that opens reliably!

That's my biggest complaint about the Skyline (and the Buck Vantage, and just about any Spyderco flipper). The Skyline in the video has pretty fantastic action... But I have a feeling that it's probably one of the best of the bunch.

It seems like a number of early flippers required wrist action, the Skyline among them. I was never a fan of that. I'm much happier with today's flippers now that they've figured out the exact flipper geometry and placement, blade detent, etc. It's too bad, too, because the look, size and specs of the Skyline always appealed to me.

Oh, that sucks :/ I will probably go for the cheaper, better made USA model then, if I get a Kershaw, and get Jade on a different knife.
154CM or whatever they use on the Leek is fine with me.

The only knife that ever returned to a dealer was a Skyline -- blade was totally off center and couldn't be adjusted -- and I have no interest in buying another.

Hold up, does anyone know if this new Skyline is made in the US like their old ones or if it's chinese like the later Skylines? I looked the other day but couldn't find anything on it.

BladeHQ has USA as country of origin. Again, the only imported models were the XLs.
