I'm looking for a true edc keychain multitool without a blade. I have looked around but can't find what I'm looking for. I would appreciate any suggestions, as the members here are always very knowledgeable and helpful.

necessities:
Can opener
Bottle opener
Screw driver
Pry
NO BLADE

Would be nice:
Scissors
pliers
Punch/reamer

I am open to folding type or one piece type. I am not orig a price cap, but cheap is good.

thanks!

I will be interested to find out if there are any small tools with can openers. I find in day/day life, I don't encounter cans. I do keep an folding army style can opener in the camping gear.

I'm curious about the joint request for no knife blade and an awl. IME, any place (planes, courts) that disallow a knife blade probably won't allow an awl. You're dealing with folks who err on the side of "no", or at least that's what I've found.

I find a pry to be a heavy lift. Could tax the joint/rivet and cause a failure. I end up using/abusing the standard screwdriver blade for this and scraping tasks.

My approach to your problem is to take a Dremmel cutting wheel to my favorite EDC key ring tool. By far, for me, it is the Leatherman Micra. The bladeless Micra is the red one.

Getting back to the pry, I push the Leatherman a LOT harder than the Victorinox key ring tools I've owned. Joints have been much more durable for me. YMMV.

I've never been denied at airports with this. I send it through last in a separate bowl, letting the TSA agent know I'm sending with "scissor/no knife blade" through.

The awl is questionable, definitely. Scissors could do the reaming while a pry could lift. I was thinking for a can opener there may be a tool with a bottle opener which, when given a bevel, could be used as a can opener.

Thank you both for your suggestions, I'll look into them for sure.

The only tiny tool i know of with a canopener is the Gerber Solstice. Its sturdy but has a VERY limited number of tools. It fits your criteria fairly well- "Can opener Bottle opener Screw driver Pry [*sort of] NO BLADE ". And the scissors are actually decent. Its very compact but not that ergonomic or comfortable to use. If you could live without the canopener i'd take a Leatherman Micra , SOG Crosscut or even Gerber Clutch over the Solstice. Honestly i open more cans than bottles i don't know why most companies small multitools have bottle openers but omit canopeners. The Micra and Crosscut are fairly easy to take apart if you want to get rid of the blade. The Clutch in theory can be taken apart but i haven't tried with mine.

Look for a Victorinox Jetsetter. It's the size of a Classic, with scissors, can/bottle opener, phillips screwdriver, tweezers, etc. Sometimes the TSA folks get real excited until I tell them to check for a blade.

I'm a Victorinox junkie (50+ Vics) while the Jet Setter is neat i doubt it would be very good for opening cans. Unless of course there is some trick to it?

This item is NG. Don't waste your money like I did.

Even if you get a TSA approved multitool with no blade, don't think that it may not be confiscated. The GI can openers are available in 2 sizes and 2 materials, SS and Ti.

The leatherman Style PS plus a gerber shard would cover most of those. The only thing its missing is a can opener but as others have stated, you could throw a P38 into your bag or on your keychain.

I appreciate all the input! I'm gonna try to make one. A opmt with can/bottle opener, pry, and some screw driver heads. Maybe just go with the shard, Idk.

I wonder how easily you could modify a p38 can opener into an opmt. Just cut some notches in it for screwdrivers and whatnot. Not sure how strong the steel is though. Might just be able to sharpen the corner of the gerber shard and make it into a can opener as well.

Probably not very strong. Interesting idea for sure.

I have traveled through airports with a Leatherman Style PS many times and have even gotten a thumbs up from the TSA agents. That is if they even look at it. Half the time I put it in the tray so they can clearly see it and they never give it a glance. So add a pry-tool of some sort and you cover a lot of needs.

The P38 should have no issue but I have heard stories of these getting confiscated.

BTW a lot of knives get through TSA every day usually by folks who own a knife but give it little thought and maybe even forgot they have it. If they lose it at TSA they don't if they lose it in the first place
