I have seen some youtube videos and some say that its good to put the plumbers teflon tape as well. I have been using blue loctite on my Inkosi/Zaan but have not yet used Teflon tape and dont know if it loosens the pivot over time and if it does how long does it last.

Anybody that has tried it please let me know.

Thank You

I have used both.

Once the loctite is set; you can't move or adjust the Pivot at all, not even for a small adjustment to loosen or tighten due to heat or cold.

When you use the teflone tape, you can still slightly adjust the tightness if needed.

My 2-cents and now you have it.

I've found that teflon tape works best on CRKs. Loctite does well on Hinderers and most of my Italian made folders, and anything with really finely threaded pivots. But due to the larger thread size on CRKs I think the teflon tape is usually ideal.

I only have bushing pivot CR's but prefer Teflon tape on any knives that have pesky pivots. It's all been said above. I prefer being able to adjust the pivot and don't like the crud buildup of Loctite.

I use the purple stuff that came with my Inkosi and it works a lot like plumber's tape. It keeps the screw from backing out but it's adjustable and won't need to be cleaned off / re-applied all that often, unlike the blue stuff.

I secured the pivot-screw on my lg 21 Sebenza with Teflon tape.
Works great. Easy to replace.
I've got a small box with a hex key and a few inches of that tape.

You can also use a teensy weensy drop of super glue on a screw, let it dry and assemble. Works like a charm. Pull a thread off of duct tape or any tape with woven threads and wrap a screw... works too. I've even used just a thin strip of paper... stick the strip into the female end and screw down the fastener... trim any excess.

I will never use locktite again, on my CRKs. Plumbers tape from here on out. I'm glad I read this thread and thanks to those whose posted.

Does my new Zaan have locktite from the factory?

It should if its brand new. I think its a diff loctite though not blue. If i remember correctly it looked white to me.

Umnumzaan comes a small tube of Loc-Tite 222 (Purple) for the pivot.

I meant the very first time the pivot is removed after it leaves the CRK shop not what it comes with.

I have an inkosi with original loctite in the sealed baggy but never opened it is that also purple?

Entirely possible they put something else on it at the shop but leave the purple to end-users looking to disassemble themselves. I don't know. The Umnumzaan I had apart had some purple on it, but that was second hand. The Inkosi looks like it would have the same setup, but I suppose the right answer is asking CRK to chime in officially.

I blew it taking apart my Inkosi. Simply put, 'shamefully,' it's now at CRK getting fixed.

I'll just call tomorrow, JIC. I'd still appreciate and thank to whoever will or has replied. CRK is like KSF, with their customer service, they're very accommodating and just awesome to deal with. One of the many reasons I love a CRK.
