Hey guys. I always use loctite on my knives, but i never know if it actually works. I prep the surfaces with rubbing alcahol, then put a drop of loctite on, or enough to evenly coat the threads. Screw it in and adjust. Sometimes i'll readjust within the first hour, is this breaking the loctite, or is it still not dry within the first hour? Also, is flipping open and closed a folding knife during a normal work day going to loosen the bond? Or will it only break after the 24hr drying period with a torx driver? Explain it, because i don't know anything about it!

From the Loctite Threadlocker Blue 242 Directions page:

"Assemble parts and tighten as required. Sets in approximately 10 minutes and fully cures in 24 hours."

In the 10 minutes before it sets, it might allow for some adjustment. Beyond that, I wouldn't mess with it for 24 hours. Any other movement/shock/vibration/etc can only weaken it. Just lay it down for a day.

Loc-tite is to prevent loosening from vibration mostly. I let it cure overnight just to be sure. One good drop is usually enough. when I try to "break" the fastener loose ,I usually have no problem. It usually pops after I apply some torque to it. I use it on all my threaded knife fasteners , and I use the red stuff on knives I don't intend to take apart but the blue is mostly all that's needed.
When you remove a fastener that had blue on it , you can see the remnants of the dried loc-tite. It sort of wedges itself in the thread space, kind of like plumbers thread tape to make the fit tighter. Hope that helps.

I'd agree with this.

Additionally, you don't need a lot. I use a pin to apply loctite, when you think you're using too little, it's just right.

I took the knife fully apart and scraped off all the excess loctite, then applied a minute amount, except on the large pivot on the military, i used a full drop on that. Seems to be doing fine.
