I just finished reading Bob Terzuola's new book, "The Tactical Folding Knife" A Study Of The Anatomy And Constuction Of The Liner-Locked Folder.

This is really a great book which is very well illustrated through out, along with many detailed schematic drawings. I would recomend this to anyone who is interested finding out just what it takes to plan & build a quality knife.

After reading this book I can say that I am pretty sure that I will have a Bob Turzola knife in my future! For a few of you lucky ones who have one or more...What do you think of them? Any/All thoughts appreciated.

Retail on the book is 16.95, but I got my copy while on vacation at Smoky Mountain Knife Works for 9.99.

I have a bolstered ATCF that is the best liner lock I have owned.

great knife I have a ATCF myself carbon fiber and titanium bolsters I carry it daily with my sebenza! The Dynamic duo I guess

Have an ATCF and I really like it.The only thing I am concerned with is a rumor that he does not grind his own blades anymore.
Any feedback????

I have all 3 of his collaborations with Spyderco, the C15, C19, and the current StarMate. You can see the evolution of his thinking in them, and they are my favorite folders. I only wish that I could afford one of his customs.

Like philosophers say that all philosophy is merely footnotes to Plato, I know many knife folks who say that all tactical folders are merely footnotes to Terzuola. Whether true or not, I definitely love my Terzuola folder.

My one complaint would be that the liner sticks very slightly above the scales, which makes the lock vulnerable to white-knuckling. Back a bunch of years ago when I bought it, many Terzuola folders seemed to have the sam e feature. I vaguely remember Bob coming online and saying it was a feature meant to make unlocking easier, but I think he was eventually convinced he should grind the liner down a bit more to avoid white knuckling accidents.

Can anyone who bought a Terzuola within the last 3 years or so comment on the liner lock? White knuckle it hard, and tell us if you hear or see any movement at all in the liner.

Joe

I have Bob T - SPYDERCO latest collaboration C55 Starmate and it is my favorite SPYDERCO knife and one of my very favorite folders at all.

I have my bolstered ATCF with Ironwood scales in my pocket as I write this, it's a great knife. My lock originally had a slight problem but I sent it back to Bob a few months ago and it's been perfect ever since.
I hadnt heard that rumor about Bob not grinding all his own blades anymore-is there any validity in this? It wouldnt surprise me if he took on an assistant-many makers do when they get too busy. Bob Loveless has had a few assistant makers over the years, as have alot of others.
I recall a few years ago that Bob T posted here a few times. Maybe he still checks in occasionally and can shed some light on this.

Good Evening, it is I, Vampire Gerbil.
(Man, that opening line is getting really lame!!!)

ANYways, I got me the ATCF with G-10 handles. I paid $500 for it.
Do I think it's worth the price?
I dunno.
I DO know that it locks up like a bankvault and the workmanship is excellent. I like everything about it with one exception.

Like I said a minute ago (a half hour ago if you're a riduculously slow reader) I have the one with the G-10 handles. Once, I was walking around some machinery and the pcoket clip got caught on it, causing it to cut into the G-10 handle. Now the clip isn't so stationary anymore.

I realize (if that's spelled wrong, blame it on Spark.... I used to blame my spelling errors on my ISP, but they got so much hate mail that they threatened to sue me if I kept blaming them for my own inadequacies... if I spelled THAT wrong, blame ...uhhhh... aww Hell, blame it on Spark again)
Now where was I?
Oh yeah... I realize (if that's spell... woops, disregard) that the damage was due to my child bearin' sized hip banging into something, but I woulda thunk that it coulda taken the abuse.

That's my 4 cents. I would like 27 dollars change though.

Off to suck my own elbow,
I remain,
VG

EDGE1,

we think alike! MIne is CF w/ Ti bolsters, and I carry my large Sebenza with it.

Joe,

I bought my ATCF at last years SECKS in Winston-Salem. The lock passes the white-knuckle and spine whack with flying colors. I trust it implicitly (and I'm really picky about my liner locks).
