This is a knife that has my full attention! In looking at the pics available I really like what I see. Thick titanium liner's, nice blade shape, green canvas micarta scales, and a weight that is sure to make it feel solid in hand. Though I have seen it listed at 7.2 ounces, and also at 6.4 ounces, if anyone knows the correct weight I would sure love to know it! Course it will not make all that much difference as both weight's are going to make it feel hefty in your hand, and for me, that is a good thing.

Anyone have one yet? Because I am seriously thinking about placing my order on Monday. But in the back of my mind I am thinking about the last Boker folder I got, the Titan Defender, that had several problems that QC should have seen. Since then I have stayed away from the German Boker's, but that is probably going to change as I really want the Arctos XL!!:)

I am actually between buying the Arctos XL and the Kizer ki4411, another solid looking folder. The only review I have seen was a 3/5 with the reason being that the 4411 was a liner lock instead of a framelock, and did not have double thumbstuds. The rest of the review was good. I just wish I could find more info. Found no review's for the Arctos XL, but I think I am willing to shell out the money for this knife. I really love the N690Co/Bo steel, and am sure it is this steel. I guess I am just trying to talk myself into the Arctos. Of course it probably doesn't matter since whichever one I buy I will buy the other one later this month.

Still would like to hear if anyone else has this knife and their impressions of it.

So I went ahead this morning and placed my order for the Boker Arctos XL! Got free USPS Priority shipping so it should arrive Wednesday. Be sure I will be back with first impressions.:)

So, for anyone interested, the Boker Arctos XL arrived, and it is a definite hit, a grand slam! This knife was perfect out of the box with perfect blade centering, perfect fit of the scales and liners, and the green canvas micarta scales were nicely finished. The opening was smooth throughout the entire opening arc with solid lockup as the thick (.100") liner completely covers the blade tang, leaving a full 1/3 of the blade tang uncovered for any wear that may occur. With the thick liners this is more like a framelock than linerlock! The blade grinds were symmetrical and the blade was very sharp. The only things I did was to shorten the pocketclip, add more bend to it, then cover it with black 3M Stair Step tape. Otherwise I just tightened the pivot to my liking and it went into my pocket.

Boker did a great job with this knife, and I hope to see more like it!

Oh I would be ashamed to post pics because the only camera I have is my cell phone camera, and it has all of 2 or 3 mgp's. I save up money for a camera, and I buy a knife! Done that several times. But I have posted some pics in the General Discussion forum, so I don't guess it would hurt to post some here. Just don't stare at them for extended periods of time!

The only thing I have found "wrong" with the XL is that I have to move my thumb back to get it on the thumbstud in order to open it. After carrying a knife that has thumbstud placement that works well for me, then going back to the Arctos causes a little relearning to get my thumb on the stud in a timely manner.

Once there though, the blade just glides out to lockup with a serious snap as that thick linerlock comes over. Boker uses p/b washers, but on the blade side of the washer there is a very thin teflon(?) cover. Guess that's one reason for the smooth opening/closing arc. This knife just oozes quality!:)

Aidansdaddy17, does the small Arctos have the ceramic detent ball?

PS- I like the Kizer. How does it flip, and what blade length is it? Guess you know I already have two Kizers, the Klecker and the Gingrich. Have the Ki5401a2 being held for me and I'll be picking it up in a couple weeks. Will be my first titanium framelocker flipper from Kizer, and is a massive knife with a 4.7" blade and 8.4 ounces in weight.

It's right around 3". It flips well if you preload Hinderer style. Rockets right out.
Ceramic detent ball as well on the small Arctos.

Great looking folder! I'd been on the fence thinking about buying the small version for several mos since KW had them for around $145...I balked due to the price and it seemed possibly a little too wide to carry well. Looks like I really screwed up and waited too long though, 'cause now the prices suddenly jumped up (a 25% increase) to approx. $195 in the last week or two! *#@&%!!

WOW! Didn't know that. I paid $166 for the Arctos XL and feel I got more than my money's worth.
