I just bought these two knives and over night shipped them so I could have them here in time for fathers day. I was getting one of them for my dad so he would have his first auto, which becomes legal for carry in my state starting July 1st 2014.

So Today is all the time I had to play with them, but it didn't take long to see these knives are not of very high or consistent quality. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a super nice knife at this price, but I was expecting it to function properly.

I'm really disappointed with the Boker Kalashnikov Automatic Knife Limited Edition (3.25" Black Plain) 01KALS75. It has terrible creep, the blade hesitates to deploy, and the more I play with it, the worse it gets. It's to the point now, it's getting hard to make it deploy at all.

The other Boker is working OK so far. Not perfect, but I can live with it at its price point.

See the video at the bottom for more detailed look.

So here are the two I bought from BladeHQ:

It looks like you just aren't used to the button. Mine was the same when I first got it, I was having a hard time opening it. It was designed so the button had to pressed in pretty far to avoid accidental openings. Most autos are like that. First OTF I handled seems like I needed two hands to open it until I cycled it a few times and got the action down. Every knife has its own quirks and methods to open.

It might not be a bad idea to pop a little oil into the pivots. Mine was fine, but a little oil made it almost fly out of my hand. I actually had to tighten the pivot a little to make it more manageable.

I'll try the oil and see how it goes.

But..

I know it looks like (mainly when I tried to focus on the button - it will give you that impression, but it was more of me trying to show in a slower movement what I felt in the button on a normal faster depression) I'm not depressing it all the way fast enough, but trust me, it doesn't matter how hard, how far in, or how fast you press the button, it still hangs a bit and then flips out.

The other Boker proves that point. It's smooth and really doesn't have that issue. It's the same knife except for a difference in blade design.

If the slight hesitation is the only problem, fOr $35 I don't really see a problem. At that price, I've seen a lot worse autos.

All the ak74's i own dont do that looks like you got a defective one, seeing as one works fine and the other doesnt. Contact blade hq im sure they will replace it.

I like the blade shape on these. Any word on the issue?

I've not even had a chance to deal with it. In the process of buying a new place and moving.

But fwiw, the other knife functions great and not had any issues with it really. It's just the black one that's messed up.

I really like mine. Send the bad one back. For the price they are fun knives.
