The pommel on this Boker flares out at the end, such that the edge of the pommel digs into my hand when I use it. Does anyone know why the pommel flares out from the end of the handle? I am guessing it is just an extension of the handle curvature, with no real function to the flare. If so, I think I am going to round the edges yet leave the pommel blade pretty much as is.

What do you think?

well, no news is good news I guess. None of you said "dont do it" so I took the sharp ears off the pommel. and I reshaped the back of the guard just a touch. sho feels better

Hi,
Its a dagger :)
the guard protects your hand from sliding onto the blade when you're stabbing
the end swell provides grip when you're pulling the blade out to stab again
