Boker Plus Valkyrie Bowie

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can't tell if this is a Mall Nijaish knife or not, but I really like the design. Info on it says it is an updated version of the SOG Bowie blade shape. But, Mall Nijaish or not, it came via UPS this morning and I genuinely like it. It is a big knife with a 7.25" blade and 12.3" overall length. The blade is made of .24" thick 440C and it came paper slicing sharp. Handle material is black linen micarta and is attached by three mosaic pins. These mosaic pins, silver and copper in color, look nice. The blade is marked Boker Plus on one side and 440C with a four digit model number on the other side. There is no country of origin marked and I have not been able to find out where it is made, though I suspect it is Tawain. Fit and finish is very good although the mosaic pins could have been done better as far as installation, as there are a couple of tiny marks in the handle material around the pins. A dark brown leather sheath came with the knife and it is well done with a thick welt, though the other pieces could have been a tad thicker in my eyes. For $92.00, shipping included, this is not a bad knife at all.

Btw, posted here to get more exposure. Anyone else have one of these and what are your thoughts?

I had one but had to sell, unfortunately...

In my opinion, it's one of the best fixed-blade values on the market...a beautiful knife with great ergos and custom features at a low production price...I paid less than $90 shipped...

There's no country of origin anywhere on the knife, box, or sheath but Boker's Plus line is made in Taiwan.

Good looking knife. I want one. The new Rampage is definitely mall ninja, but in spite of that, they look so cool I want one of those too.

I'm thinking of getting one of these.

Its a nice looking knife but I'm having trouble working out from the pictures whether the rear edge is sharpened or not.

This is fairly important for me because if its shrpened it won't clear customs so some confirmation would be appreciated.

The Boker Plus line is primarily made in the PRC and the knife should have 'CHINA' on the tang edge in the handle area. I have their Gnome, Rhino, and Mosier knives and they all have it where the forefinger would rest.

The false edge is NOT sharpened. It could be with some work, but as it comes it isn't. My viewon this knife, after having it for 3 years, has not changed. Though I haven't used it as much as some others, I have used it, and it has done evrything I asked of it. Mine came unmarked, though after some research, it looked like it was made in Tawain. Either way, the Boker Plus knives I have are great deals for the money, and the 440C is done correct! Btw, I have the 2010 Collectors (David Broadwell design), and the Schanz Integral Dagger, both made in China. These are on par with the Valkryie.:)

Thanks for that info cutter17.

I'll definately be grabbing one of these soon. It looks like a really nice design so I can't wait.
