Boker Pocket Knife

Boker makes a very good stockman. I have several, made from the 1970s to present day. Here are a few to look at.

One bought new last year, at just over 4 inches in stag.

A shadow pattern from the 1980s, just under 4 inches.

My favorite of all, some terrific bone on another 4 incher from the mid 1970s.

And here is the matching 3½" model.

No pictures, but I have a Boker "Plus" 4 inch closed Stockman and 4.125 inch closed trapper set with amber jigged bone, and a Boker "Magnum" 4 blade scout/camp knife with rosewood covers.
They may not be up to the made in Germany Tree Brand standards (but they are not at the Made in Germany Tree Brand premium price point, either)
They are good enough knives.
They take a good edge, and bold it long enough for what I've had to do.
They are easy to sharpen in the field; don't need no fancy (and expensive) diamond or SiC stones.

Well worth getting a couple. They make a very nice Whittler too, Penknife, Canoes and Stockman in various sizes, plus Trapper and Copperhead (an underrated knife that I much prefer to Trappers).

My experience with Boker is that if it's made in Solingen, it's quality. Better than Case, not up to GEC.
But Boker will not pay to have quality work done in China.

I own several older Boker USA pocketknives and find them to be equivalent in quality to the Camillus and Schrade USA of the same era. Not a Case or Böker Soligen, but well built, working pocketknives. OH

Do you happen to know where the USA Boker’s were made? I’ve heard rumors that they were built in a town near me.

I've got several German and USA made Boker stockman knives from the seventy's. The newest one I have is this recent production 7474 Rosewood Stockman. A Solingen made example at 4" in length with carbon blades. You can't beat them for the price point. If you look you can find them very reasonably priced.

I believe I read somewhere that the Boker USA factory was in New York, but I don't know the city.

I would like to know more about boker USA. I like the look of many I've seen, the model 492 comes to mind first.
A few look to me as though they were made by Camillus, under contract, but that's only an observation.

There is a book on the history of Boker, put together by BF regulars. I expect they'll catch wind of this thread, and chime in with some info.
