Went down into Kentucky to one of my favorite knife shops yesterday, came home with the Boker USA Stockman 9885JBB 4" square bolster and jigged brown bone. (I assume that's what the "JBB" is for)?

The first thing that really impressed me one this one is how smooth the blades open, no rough spots or binding as they open.

I haven't tried to patina them yet, but I think the blades are carbon and all 3 are sharp out of the box.

That's a beauty TLC. I didn't anyone was still making Boker USA knives or is that like new old stock? Pardon the pun. Thanks.

It could be, the store I got it in is a little out of the way place that has lots of stuff that has been sitting in there for years.

If your ever near Grand Rivers, KY, it's called Grand Rivers Antiques, right on the main (actually only) :D street in town.

An absolutely amazing selection of slipjoints from just about every maker and their prices are great, I gave $37.00 for this one and just did a quick vinegar test and the blades are carbon, so I am even more happy with it.

Nice knife for a good price. I have always been fond of slanted bolsters.

Whats the vinegar test?

If you not totally sure if a blade is carbon or stainless, just put a small drop of vinegar on the blade, somewhere and let it set for a few minutes. If that spot turns dark, your blade is carbon not stainless.

Nice buy there TLC! Congrats! I didn't know there was such a thing as a Boker USA stockman!

I'm not totally sure if they were made in the USA or Germany?

The blade has USA on it, but the shield says "Solingen".

May go ask in the Boker forum.

Hey...wherever it was made...its a nice looking carbon steel stockman. And for 37 bucks...you can't beat it.

I saved it before I posted, thanks!

I try to keep scans of all inserts like that, sometimes they come in handy later on.
