That's my first post ever. I was expecting to amass a little more knowledge about knives before posting, but I just couldn't find a message with the same question, so there it goes:

1. Does anybody have the Valkyrie bowie?
2. How does it perform?
3. Does it have a full tang?

I know the beauty is on the eye of the beholder but I just cannot take the picture of that beauty out of my head!

Finally, and a little bit off-topic, I would like to congratulate Chad Los Banos for his incredible designs and Boker for having given life to them.

Kind Regards,

Ricardo

Ricardo ,

I handled one at a local gun/knifeshop. I think they did an excellent job on the fit and finish concidering the price.
They do come full tang construction about 6mm thick blade.
Nice black mircata with red layer beneith. 440 C blade.
Nice balance imho but a bit heavy.

I live in city enviroment so i didn't buy it just for the reason it would not see much use . Carrying a approx. 7.5 inch fixed blade arround would attract to much attention.

They are simular to the magnum fixed year knives in fit and finish like this 2008 year one;

I think Man of Iron has one of these yearknives so maybe he will be able to tell more of his like/dislikes.

;)

For the same money, you'd better get the Magnum yearknives instead of the regular production models. It has come to my attention that Böker has for every Magnum yearknife a simular production model for the same price, in this case Valkyrie. Both made of 440C, almost identital designs, nonetheless different level of finish. Besides, you get a nice presentation box with certificate with the yearknife where the Valkyrie will just come in a cardboard box. Who knows you're nerd enough to get # 1337 out of the 1999 pieces. :p

Comparing the spines of 2007 and CS Bushman, bad choice, should have done it with a KaBar.

Quality of the pictures is :thumbdn: - when you have to choose between a new camera and a new knife, the choise is already made :D:D:D Some Italian dude is selling the 2007 collection on ebay for €127, whereas the MSRP was €100 (bought mine with €90). So if you are concerning the resell value, they won't drop because they're LE - if you buy a yearknife in 2008 listed €100, you can get at least €80-90 in the same year, €100 in 2009. Böker yearknives are good collector items, because they are of much better quality than their production counterparts with the same MSRP, as a matter of fact, personally I find the Magnum 2007 of the same quality as BM Blue Class, if it's not better.

Maarten, I found bronze washers on http://www.outdoor-live.nl/ (Bolts and Bolsters, then Folder Parts) with help from the Dutch knifeforum, but they're not listed as phosphor bronze, and 0,355 mm thick.

Anyway, Fred told me he was approached by Böker to become their Dutch dealer, but he hasn't because there aren't many ppl buying Böker stuff from him besides me :p

Are they bronze or not is the question? :o and 0.355 mm is rather thin i think Potterma uses 0.020 inch= 1mm thick.

But thanks anyway:D

G#@ D#$$&* these bronze washers are hard to find in local hardware shops! I don't want to spend like 6 euro for shipping 10 bucks worth of stuff..

come on Mat, the Valkyrie is for beheading smurfs and such

Thanks for the information guys.

Maarten, a 6mm blade thickness and full tang seems to be very good!

Man of Iron, the Magnums are amazing pieces, for sure, but what really hooked me to the Valkyrie was the Vietnam bowie design, that I love, combined with a much more business-like (and prettier, I think!) tip.
Market value could be a decisive factor for me if the pieces were equal but as it is, considering the hands-on comments from Marteen, I still go with the Valkyrie.

Kind Regards,

Ricardo
