Boot Knife

I have bought 3 boot knives and all 3 were a disappointment. The knives were OK but the sheaths left a lot to be desired. Does anyone have any recommendations for a boot knife/sheath that works ? Spring tension to hold the knife in the sjeath. a good method of attaching the sheath to ones boots.

Thanks for the reply. Did the knife/sheath stay securely attached to your boot(I am talking wellington/cowboy style boots)? Was the knife easy enough to withdraw from the sheath?

I've carried a BK-11 and a CRKT Minimalist on my boot. I never really used them when they were on there so I don't know how practical it would be to get it out and use, but they're both easy to take out of the sheath.

The BK-11 sheath has good retention but rattles when you walk, I would probably go with an aftermarket sheath. The Minimalist was great as a little back up knife that you can forget is even there.

why not have one of the leather people here custom make you a sheath for your boot knife?? would that not help you out??

It stayed secure and easy to draw, army boots are laced tightly so its different from the cowboy boots but it should be good to go. Its about 37 bucks I think, so not to expensive to try

I looked at the CRKT Sting and I think that is what I am looking for. I really like the sheath.

I had the same problem and eventually gave up on trying to comfortably and securely fasten a boot knife. Now I use a kabar TDI ankle sheath rig with a bk14 and fasten it around my boot. It works great. The new Becker coating is thicker so it doesn't rattle but if you use an old one you can melt it a bit to stop the rattle or stick a cotton ball or some duct tape in it. The ankle rig will prob work with a bunch of other kydex sheaths too bu I can't say for certain.
