I have a knife catalog that dates back to '76 I believe, the company was originally called 'House of Muzzle Loading' but went on to become 'Blades "n" Stuff where they sold knife blanks, knife kits and all necessary knife making tools/supplies. They were out of Glendale, CA..

Today I picked up the book out in the garage and flipped through it where I found that Paul Bos did all their heat treat for their blades.. Here's what they said about him as first introducing him..

"Heat treating of our blades and those sent to us for processing, is handled by a professional firm which does "give-a-darn" about the quality of your blade. (Paul Bos does all of the stainless, A-2, D-2 and other alloy steels exclusively"

it goes on to talk a little about his process and the hardness of various steels such as 440c, ats-34 etc..

Maybe some of you remember this specific time, the book however has no date on it but, I will place it between '76-'79 maybe 1980 as they describe their business in this time frame..

I found it interesting to say the least.. and thought I'd throw this out there for you guys in the know..

I wonder if they're still doing business.. ?

Unfortunately Robert Engnath had a heart attack and that closed up the shop. I have finished several of the blades I got from his catalog including the one in my Avatar pic (12" of 1/4 thick 440C) I do like knowing these blades got the best heat treat in the business.

Interesting.

Did a google search and found this site.

I'm guessing Bob Engnath passed away in the 1990's as the site has 1997 dates.

Yeah, I read up on that shortly after I made this thread..
