Looking for some cool folding box cutter ideas. Something with a sturdy clip. Maybe with lots of the blade exposed, rather than the ones that reveal only an inch.

Thanks for any info.

I use a cheap husky box cutter from Home Depot at work. They make various sizes, have clips and a decent amount of blade is exposed.

Me too. I use one of these red ones that I bought at HD. Not sure they're still selling the red ones but you can find one in that color online for about $8.

Gerber EAB is great. Has a real good clip, uses standard contractor knife blades. Makes a real cool money clip. Like $10-ish.

Screwpop Ron's Utility Knife 3.0 is neat. It's a keychain jobbie, no clip though.

Rexford Knives RUT if you want a titanium piece with a couple other functions. Cool, but spendy as hell.

Mossy Oak 2-Piece Folding Utility Knife comes in a 2 pack for around $10 or so. Frame lock folding unit, uses standard contractor blades.

I like having these things around because they use contractor blades, and I always have a few packs at the house and at work.

Never owned the Rexford RUT... more than I wanna spend on a box cutter. I still think it's cool though.

Try Spectrum Energetic Utilizer 2.0. They are a small CNC shop that built to order.

Spectrum Energetic Utilizer 2.0, that’s mine. They are a bit on the expensive side, $255 with an extra $30 for custom ano.

I've got em all and use em every day for work and the one by outdoor edge is hands down the best I use....but that spectrum is SWEET a tad on the pricey side for work use thou

Those Spectrums are awesome! A little on the high end. I’ll edc something cheaper for now. If I decide to permanently EDC a box cutter, this will probably be something I acquire.

Best thing I’ve seen thus far is the Gerber EAB. Looking for designs similar to this.

Thanks for the insight.

Echoing some replies here on the Gerber EAB, it's a really nifty little folder. Very sturdy clip. 1 3/8" exposed blade. Very thin in the pocket. Only 1/4" width. Great looking knife. All stainless. Kobalt heavy duty blades rule for this little baby. And you can get four fingers of a medium hand around this little blade.

Do you mean their Slidewinder or one of those replaceable blade folding knives? The latter is interesting. Along with that fancy Spectrum, they test the divide between sharpening a traditional blade and just replacing it with another throwaway.

A main reason I've used box cutters in the past has been working jobs that ban or frown upon personal "knives" but are okay with "box cutters". Having them provided is an added incentive. I've used a handful from the selection over at Uline but nothing "folding". Nothing to write home about either.

I would get the $225 version and never look for one again. You will get payback in no time searching for other knives.

I've had a Milwaukee fastback for years. Probably first generation? A good bit of the red paint is gone. It's sharpened pencils, whittled, fine tuned dovetails and other joints, cut hose, straps, and anything else. Scored a mess of cement board, too. It still hold the blade fine and releases it easily. Drops open and shut when I push the button. The first hundred pack of blades I bought is almost gone. I guess that's an indication of how much it's been used.
