what size rivets / pins should i get for the old hickory knife handle? i am trying to rehandle it. links would be good. thanks

Any size you want, so long as they fit the handle. You can use large or small. Personally I wouldn't use rivets per se, so much as pins. So long as they fit through the holes in the tang, which can be drilled out larger if you wish. It really just depends on what you want, as they are largely for decoration anyway.

I believe they are designed for "cutlers rivets". These are available from www.jantzsupply.com I believe.
Pins/rivets should not be just decorative. They should be the primary source for holding the scales. Glues should be secondary.

I like both, myself. Knives that are used in wet environments should use glues however, because they help to prevent water, blood, etc. from getting under the scales and causing corrosion.
