I'm considering two small Bark River FBs from the Fox River family for general daypack carry: the Elmax featherweight and the Mini Fox River. Despite the family pedigree and that they're both EDC-size, they seem pretty different in terms of blade and handle shapes. I like the Elmax, but 3V, s35VN, or even A2 could work for my purposes. Does anyone have both of these models to give me some usage comparison opinions? Comp side-by-side photos also would be great...

Thanks!

The Elmax steel, thinner blade stock, longer cutting edge length, sheath design and lack of a lanyard loop (they get in my way, on a knife that small) are the advantages that would make me prefer the Featherweight Fox River over the Mini Fox River. The Featherweight is my only Bark River knife and I studied long and hard to find the one that would suit my needs - which it does perfectly.

I'll start by stating that I'm a fan of the Mini Fox River - it's got the best fitting handle of any of my small (~ 3 inch) fixed blades.

Having long been interested in the Fox River, I was drawn to the Featherweight...however, I'd purchased a different featherweight model, and didn't like the way it fit my hand. I compared handles, and ultimately couldn't bring myself to risk the purchase. I bought, instead, a Fox River-LT, and have been absolutely thrilled with it. Not trying to dissuade you from the Featherweight...just pointing out another similar option in that family.

Thanks for the input and photo. I also recently bought a Fox River LT (like it a lot) but wanted something smaller for light hiking carry. I may have to employ the BF method: buy both and sell the one that doesn't work. The trouble is that so many of them work...

Here's a pic for size comparison with the Fox River LT and the Mini Fox River
